I see a lot of lists with no Buffy even though it seems that going by the actual entries in the list, those folks would absolutely LOVE the adventures of a certain blonde vampire slayer! Watch Buffy, people! Most of the stuff that you like in your current YA and adventure shows was most probably derived in one way or the other from the very influential Buffster.

Well, depends, especially if Claire turns this down if she cannot commit to another television series as it will take away most of her dates. Maybe this opportunity would make her more confident in auditioning for MCU Carol Danvers. Her agent seems really lame though. How does the less talented Dianna Agron keep getting big movie gigs while Holt is stuck in the network rut?

Dreamworks Animation: What Went Wrong?

Can't argue about that. Fiona's entire backstory is pretty sad. Damn you opportunistic and evil Fairy Godmother!! -

Ouch. Now I wouldn't go that far! But I agree that some wrong creative decisions were made. Before the release, I read some interviews from the directors where they more or less declared that they compromised their own story to make space for what "audiences expect of a superhero film". Now that is either bad instinct or studio meddling. They should have just done their own thing or allowed to do their own thing. It's when BH6 tries its hardest to fit into the typical superhero popcorn blockbuster mold that it strays from the path of greatness. -

Naah, he'd never pull it off. He would micromanage the building of the time machine to such an extent that his workers would probably die of exhaustion. Then he'd outsource the time machine construction and settle for an inferior product which would take him back only till Return to Oz (1985). -

Plus, Katzenberg wanted to remove "Part of Your World" and "Kiss the Girl" from The Little Mermaid. That right there shows his judgement skills. If Ashman and co. hadn't managed to sway him, Mermaid would have been a FAR, FAR less soulful movie and automatically less successful. And Mermaid's mediocre to poor BO could have had terrible effects for the Renaissance movies that built on its success. In one fell swoop, an entire magical era that defined the formative years of my generation could have been wiped out right in its infancy due to Katzenberg's cluelessness. -

He just managed the studio, mostly by yelling and screeching and being a terrible taskmaster in general. The creative heads behind the Disney Renaissance were Howard Ashman, Alan Menken, John Musker, Ron Clements, Glen Keane, Mark Henn and several others. Without that level of talent and creativity, Katzenberg and Katzenberg's Ego have really floundered. -
Anyone who reads the Avatar follow-up comics published by Dark Horse will be pleased to know that they are coming with a fourth volume, titled "Smoke and Shadows", focusing on Zuko and Mai's relationship, among other elements from the original show. Dreamworks Animation: What Went Wrong?

It's more a case of GA beginning to wise up after Shrek the Turd. KFP did well after that but then it's all been downhill, Madagascar 3 and to a lesser extent, The Croods, being the only exceptions. Even HTTYD would have drowned if it hadn't been for crazy critical buzz and lack of competition in early 2010 convincing folks to give it a chance. -
Dreamworks Animation: What Went Wrong?
Spidey Freak replied to A Marvel Fanboy's topic in Box Office Discussion
None of the Dreamworks movies have had visibly terrible animation. I mean, they were beating Disney Animation pretty consistently until Tangled came along and WDAS has always had superior animation, Chicken Little and Home on the Range aside. GA cares about concepts and hooks more. Dreamworks got that with Shrek, KFP and Madagascar, but then they got very lazy and tried to rely too heavily on inferior sequels with scripts where they weren't even trying. HTTYD was an anomaly in that GA never cared until crazy Internet buzz made them go and see it. But unfortunately it didn't capture their imagination enough to be sequel worthy, as HTTYD2 proved. Their budgeted animation is what is keeping them afloat for the meantime, not the cause of their downfall. The problem is the scripts and uninspired ideas. -

Naah, GA doesn't give a damn about animation quality unless it is incredibly tacky and noticeable. Otherwise Big Hero 6 would be a much bigger film than Frozen. Now Dreamworks scripts on the other hand keep ranging from mediocre to terrible. Maybe they should outsource their writing too. -

Katzenberg's ego and utter lack of instinct when it comes to creative management and control. Penguins of Madagascar is the definition of lazy cashgrab, and I'm one of the most forgiving people when it comes to popcorn entertainment. -
Superman/Batman: Apocalypse (2010)
Spidey Freak replied to K1stpierre's topic in Review That Movie! (Spoilers Allowed)
Lol this should have been named "Supergirl". DC Animation taking a page out of Disney's book and giving a girl-oriented movie a more boy-oriented/gender neutral title. -

I am A HUGE WDAS fanboy and BH6 is really good, but I far prefer Wreck-It Ralph when it comes to Disney's recent non-musical non-fairytales. So personally speaking, while I am interested in seeing where it ends up (hopefully above Tangled), I'm not that invested to constantly keep track of its run because it hasn't made that much of an impression on me as its two immediate Disney predecessors. Plus I guess there was a "Everyone loves to root for a super champ!" mentality at play when it came to Frozen. People were awe-struck by that insane run and couldn't help but cheer it on. BH6 is performing close to average expectations, so it appears to be an average run even though it is the best performance for a Disney film not named Frozen since The Lion King. But unfortunately, it is following up Frozen, and that never was an enviable position. So comparisons are unpreventable. Which naturally leads to the "It's good but it ain't no Frozen!" apathetic attitude. -

Her stellar turn in Battleship!

Meh, M3 and S4 were pretty close to each other. There was no way but down for Shrek after the stupid Turd.

But Puss came after the lowest grossing Shrek and Penguins comes after the highest grossing Madagascar.
