  1. It's perfectly doable with the right and passionate studio backed creative team not including anyone named M. Night Shyamalan . The characterizations blow away anything in LotR and Potter and it is far more epic in scope than Hunger Games.
  2. Avatar: The Last Airbender + The Legend of Korra. ^Still think Nickleodeon should reboot that universe in cinematic live action form. If done right, has to potential to be bigger than Potter AND LotR both commercially (especially OS) and critically.
  3. 35M/74M A Purge meets I Know What You Did Last Summer type slasher flick where a town of suburban families is targeted by a group of mysterious killers due to the town's dark and secretive history. Munchkin Mayhem
  4. Shock factor. But the only reason it was far more shocking in the comics was because Gwen was the first major character in superhero comics to bite it (way back in 1973, before it became a fad to kill off major characters in comics, especially women and love interests). Plus, the original story was way more effective and touching because Mary Jane was already a big factor in Peter and Gwen's lives by that point and she transformed from a minor scene stealing character to the love interest thanks to Gwen's death. MJ needed to be there in the TASM films for Gwen's death to have a bigger impact (Nobody ever wanted the missing parents subplot!). The scene where Peter thrashes Harry for it shouldn't have been cut. Sony dropped the ball on what could have been the most tragic superhero movie of all time. It's a testament to Webb, Garfield and Stone that there managed to be some kind of impact despite such a mediocre script for a great story.
  5. I don't care for Angie's ego-driven whitewashed mess of a project (seriously, what's with her and wanting to play colored women? This will be the THIRD fucking time after Wanted and A Mighty Heart) so kind of sympathise with Rudin, even though he wants to cockblock her for all the wrong reasons!
  6. More like in a fine Grade A snarky asshole way, as someone correctly put it on Gawker.
  7. LOL @ Fincher's "Adam Driver is a terrible idea!" snottery.
  8. 1. Aladdin 2. Princess Mononoke + Frozen 4. Scott Pilgrim vs. the World 5. Stardust 6. The Little Mermaid 7. The Nightmare Before Christmas 8. Big Fish 9. The Princess Bride 10. Edward Scissorhands
  9. Seems like she is out of the running for the title role at least: http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/live-feed/originals-boss-fallout-rebekah-twist-754765
  10. I'm not disagreeing. Bronson is far more charming than both Moore and Brosnan. If only Hardy had been Bond instead of Craig.
  11. You either die a villain, or you live long enough to see yourself become the hero.
  12. Nightcrawler is good but not better than Gone Girl good, lol. DAT BOYHOOD METASCORE!
  13. That would make Dreamworks/Katzenberg and Shrek in particular, Hans and the Duke of Weselton! Speaking of which, that's another thing slowly killing Dreamworks. The parody style of their films has rapidly gone from intelligent and well-placed criticism (Shrek and to a lesser extent, Shrek 2) to outright obnoxious, petty and shaming for what seems like, as the Duke would say, "ulterior motives" (Shrek the Turd and many DWAS movies that have followed after, the most recent example being Penguins). Films like The Turd and Penguins of Madagascar seem more interested in ripping Disney Animation a new one for their beauty/cuteness hangup than offering something of quality and substance. I mean, Shrek and especially Shrek 2 were pretty mean spirited to begin with, but they at least balanced it with heart. Something the latter DWA films have been sorely lacking in, with exceptions like KFP, Dragon and The Croods.
  14. While the first two seasons are incredibly entertaining and one of the finest mid 90's television had to offer, Buffy really hits its stride from the third season onward. Actually scratch that, it hits the sweet spot in the second half of the second season. So you are about to reach the best part now. Keep in mind that YA and fantasy genres were nowhere as developed on television when Buffy was around as they are now. Buffy was a trailblazer in the true sense of the word.
  15. Meh, fetishized underaged girls (which is 85% of anime) don't do it for me. Even some of the good ones like Bleach can have their excesses.
  16. Yeah right like that movie will receive such a simple name. Try Rise of the Dawn of the Planet of the Apes King!
  17. You will have more faves once you start Season 3 and get more acquainted with the Goddesses Margaery and Olenna Tyrell.
