Boxoffice.com's Top 100 Films of All Time 2013: THE RESULTS (final list in OP)

Recommended Posts

In a shocking twist, three films are in basically the same place as last year.

#54

54. Psycho

LYR: 52

Alfred Hitchcock, 1960

Nominated for 4 Oscars

51 points

"Uh-uh, Mother-m-mother, uh, what is the phrase? She isn't quite herself today."

Synopsis: A Phoenix secretary steals $40,000 from her employer's client, goes on the run and checks into a remote motel run by a young man under the domination of his mother.

Trivia: First American film ever to show a toilet flushing on screen.

#53

53. Fargo

LYR: 55

Joel and Ethan Coen, 1996

Nominated for 7 Oscars, won 2

"You betcha!"

Synopsis: Jerry Lundegaard's inept crime falls apart due to his and his henchmen's bungling and the persistent police work of the quite pregnant Marge Gunderson.

Trivia: None of the movie scenes, either exterior or interior, were actually filmed in Fargo. The bar exterior shown at the beginning of the movie is located in Northeast Minneapolis.

#52

52. The Truman Show

LYR: 49

Peter Weir, 1998

Nominated for 3 Oscars

51 points

"While the world he inhabits is, in some respects, counterfeit, there's nothing fake about Truman himself. No scripts, no cue cards. It isn't always Shakespeare, but it's genuine. It's a life."

Synopsis: An insurance salesman/adjuster discovers his entire life is actually a TV show.

Trivia: People on the set were forbidden from uttering phrases from Jim Carrey's past "silly" movies.
