That means Black Widow will be releasing day and date in India, missing Labour day weekend, though not really a big deal since Labour day is on Saturday, so....

What is a big deal that, if it released next week, it will be releasing between Radhe and Sooryavanshi. So quite possibly, we have release on 21st May or even 28th May unless Marvel decide to go 7th May. For Ant-Man and the Wasp they postponed the film from 28th June (a week before US release) to 13th July distancing 2 weeks from Sanju.

GvK South India start is good, will probably do around ₹2.75-3cr Gross but Rest of India is very low. Occupancies are worse than TENET in IMAX, may be par WW84. Expecting ₹1.5cr in Rest of India.

 

Overall ₹4.25-4.5cr ($0.58-0.62M) OD. That will be better than KoTM, but sort of start South India had, it could have done much much more.

 

Weekday release is a factor in North. May be Friday can improve. Expecting daily numbers as

South India is even better than I thought. Probably ₹3.5-4cr. North may be ₹1.5. Good number overall.

The South India numbers are par or better likes of Jurassic World, The Lion King, Deadpool 2 but North India are like Shazam and stuff.

South India has a very good cinema going culture, North doesn't. Baahubali 2 in APTS had 30M admissions from 100M population, while in whole of North India with 1B+ population, it had only 57M admissions.

 

It is due to this culture that people were back to movies fast after reopening, their respective industries doing big numbers while North India and Bollywood still struggling.

GvK had 3rd biggest opening ever for Hollywood in TN while Top 5 in APTS but overall won't be even in Top 20.

 

In normal times, with respect to TN and APTS numbers, Mumbai would have been ₹4.5-5cr range, here it was barely ₹0.92cr. Similarly Delhi/UP would have been ₹3cr range, instead here it was only ₹0.6cr.

 

Poor WB. Finally they got something big in India and this happened.

Godzilla Vs Kong grossed ₹36.5cr ($5M) Approx in its 5 days extended weekend in India. It has already crossed the full run of other three films of Monster verse, however, it might as well crossed all three of them combined if not for COVID. In normalcy it would have grossed ₹80cr ($11M) Approx in India in 5 days weekend.

 

Godzilla and Kong are big property in India but unfortunately last few films couldn't show that. This time the film was all set to show its potential and COVID...

 

Godzilla (1998) was 2nd biggest Hollywood film of all time in India after Titanic grossing ₹27cr (infl. adj ₹175cr plus).

 

King Kong (2005) was again 2nd biggest Hollywood film with ₹33cr (infl. adj. ₹95cr).
