"Captain America: The Winter Soldier expanded to Brazil, Trinidad & Tobago, Hungary, and Turkey this weekend to cap off the majority of its overseas release. The superhero film will be opening in Japan, its final territory, on April 19.

Cap will be looking to hit the $500 million global mark with next weekend's Japanse debut. The superhero sequel has grossed a total of $317.7 million overseas and $476.7 million worldwide after notching a second consecutive weekend with over $100 million in global box office. 54 overseas territories contributed $60.6 million of this weekend's box office. The Captain America sequel has already eclipsed the lifetime run of its original overseas by 163%. The previous Captain America film grossed a total of $194 million outside of North America. The new film is also 128% above the $371 million global lifetime run of the original.

The film took $6.9 million first place finish in its Brazilian opening, giving it first place with a 45% market share and the fourth highest April opening of all time in the country. China took a 50% dip this weekend to bring its total up to a whopping $80.4 million, becoming the #3 Disney release of all time in the country. South Korea is reporting a $25.1 million cume after its third staright weekend as the #1 fillm."

Well deserved Chris and the two directors have made Captain America amongst the top 3 elite of the genre!!

Its just crazy how improved Chris is in this film and its content and quality as a whole. From start to finished I was never bored and kept getting more and more impressed.... The ship sequence showing the  abilities of Cap is out of this world!! Can captain make 550-600+M OS??!!

Holy moly!!!

The totals are not completely comparable since TDW opened in more territories earlier. For example: Russia, Brazil and Australia it's first Int'l w/e. TWS opened in Russia & Australia it's 2nd w/e and Brazil in it's 3rd w/e.

TWS also has about $30m left on it's China run as compared to TDW's at the same point

I think overseas might be a little lower since ASM 2 is coming to knee cap it

It will hurt it punctually, then stabilize.  They could even feed each other.  People going to see TASM and then after it decide to see the other CBM movie that is still in theaters.

It's the same case as TASM versus TDKR.

I hope ASM2 kind of helping Cap 2 becomes the case instead of people just choosing to see that over Cap 2.

If CA2 has the same daily drops as,

TA : it makes 253m

IM2 : 241.5m

IM3 : 227M

After the Friday estimates it was eying 261m if it behaved like TA, but TA had a strong Sunday. As that was an event movie which was very steady on the lower side and hung around for a long time, 250m can be ruled out imo.

240m seems to be legit target considering it's going to face competition May onwards.

One might say it will at least have better legs than IM2, but IM2's 4th weekend was memorial day weekend and it's 4-day gross (21m) was off just 20% from the 3rd weekend (26m).

EDIT: LOL Sorry, didn't see this was on OS thread

No Easter Holidays in the States?

I don't think Easter bump is close to Mem Day bump. But it will surely help. It's loosing all it's IMAX screens to Transcendence this weekend though. 240m still seems like a good target.
