Really good jump on saturday

1 SPIDER-MAN: NO WAY HOME 15/12/2021 USA WARNER BROS ITALIA S.P.A. € 203.157 27.185 € 22.451.032 2.984.589

really Close to 3M adm

26/27 days in first place? Wow

Yeah yesterday there was a really nice increase for all the movies and bigger than expected, maybe the weekend won't be so disastrous after all

And Spider Man continues to surprise, it isn't doing incredible numbers but it continues to be first despite the competition. Since it came out it has missed only 3 days at top, if it exceeds the 30 days we should seriously look for who else has done it because it's really rare. I took a quick look at cineguru and Endgame, Joker and The Lion King all did less, but maybe it's better to look for movies outside of 2019 which was really crowded

3M admissions at the end of this weekend is possible for NWH ?

In the end it seems it was more likely than I expected,  it should at least reach the 2.990M and also surprisingly win its fifth weekend in a row. Taking a quick look at BoxOfficeMojo over the past 20 years only The Da Vinci Code and the Order of the Phoenix (Harry Potter) managed to do so. Avatar instead won 6 weekends

If No Way Home manages to win also the sixth I'll get a spider web tattoo on the neck because it's truly insane 😱

5 SCREAM 13/01/2022 USA EAGLE PICTURES S.P.A. € 99.553 13.470 € 358.625 49.321

Scream fell to 5th Position on Sunday with week-end of €358k compared to Scream 4 (2011) that had 548k OW and collected €1.3m total gross.

A great Weekend for NWH and 3 Million Attendance finally. NWH fell 75% on Monday from last Sunday but it stabilized well and then took off in weekends. It dropped only 32% [Fri-Sun] from €676k to €463k whereas for a 4 day W-End [Thu- Sun], It dropped 45% from €922k to 505k.

Gross Drop Attendance Total Gross Total Audience

Week 4 0.687 -59.35% 0.095 22.633 3.009

Supposedly it falls 75% again on Monday and hold's it weekend right, we are looking at €22.88m by next weekend. If nothing changes, €23.20m finish.

Yeah now that it has passed the 3M admissions (and also Spider-Man 3 at 3.008M), the next and final target is the 23 million euros. Perhaps given the embarassing competition it could also aim for 23.6M to double Far From Home's gross

In the meantime House of Gucci has passed the total gross of Black Widow and Fast and Furious 9, a gross of 5 million may not be that much but I'm curious to see in how many other countries House of Gucci is in the top 10 of films released in 2021 (7th to be precise)

Then I wanted to point out the progression of the films released by the youtuber duo "Me Contro Te", the first has grossed 10 million euros, the second 5M and the latter will end at less than 3M. Maybe it's time to stop...

Demon Slayer opened in 8th position with an embarassing 14k euros on his first day, had it come out in July as originally planned it would have easily made over 100k. And this is like the tenth flop in a row in our market, basically the last two films that have done well are No Way Home and House of Gucci (the latter especially for its legs)

This week there will be the release of the film about Celine Dion and other minor movies who won't gross anything (including one about Van Gogh, I fell like there is a new one every year...)

Yesterday 7th position and €18k for Demon Slayer, in the meantime I noticed that it has frighteningly expensive tickets as other films have grossed the same but had double admissions...

Yesterday 18k for Demon Slayer, for a final total of 51k euros

Tomorrow some new films will probably change this stationary top 10, but only Aline have a chance to open in the top 3

OMG! I have SG$42 for Singapore, ₱1450 for Philippines. Now, €9.3 for Italy. BTW, did you watch?

No in the end I didn't watched it because the two cinemas close to me didn't have it, on the other hand I saw No Way Home for the second time together with three friends who hadn't seen it yet (two weren't that interested and one was in quarantine after the holidays)

At this point I think I'm going to watch it on Amazon before the end of the month (since my free month expires on the 31th  January), but with anime I really have a lot of catching up to do, in 2021 I saw almost nothing and my "plan to watch" list basically doubled 😅

Aline (Celine Dion) opened only in seventh position, but on the other hand a release I didn't even know existed debuted in first position and grossed just 1/2% more than No Way Home. It's "Il Lupo ed il Leone" (The Wolf and the Lion), with about 34k euros, and from what I understood it's quite similar to "Mia and the White Lion" which grossed almost 6M 3 years ago

I finally managed to find the ranking of the highest grossing movies of all time in Italy that solves the problem of the low theathers coverage of Cinetel from 1994 to 2001, now I'll post the official and the estimated ranking (Link 1, Link 2, alternative Link 2

TOP 10 Estimated

€71.1M - Titanic (1997)
€66.9M - Avatar (2009)
€65.4M - Quo Vado? (ITA 2016)
€52.1M - Sole a Catinelle (ITA 2013)
€47M - Life is Beautiful (ITA 1997)
€46.2M - Tolo tolo (ITA 2020)
€43.5M - Che Bella Giornata (ITA 2011)
€40.1M - Il Ciclone (ITA 1996)
€38.3M - Fuochi d’Artificio (ITA 1997)
€37.9M - Chiedimi se Sono Felice (ITA 2000)

Bro, Titanic would be 3rd, Avatar 1st & Quo Vado 2nd.  You can actually find how many cities Cinetel actually covered in 1990s and 2000s. There is no need for assumptions, that Data is even verified by both Cinetel and SIAE.  Also, the problem with the sites you linked they took whole of 50m Gross of titanic (which is combined total of both releases of Titanic) and Combined total of Avatar too, then calculated it based on Cinetel Data of 1997 & 2009 respectively, which is wrong. Titanic was released in 1998 in Italy and Cinetel covered 7% more by then.

I can provide actual data's if you want with City Coverage and original gross-es if you want.  Found It:

Coverage of Cinetel:

image.png

Average ATPs [2006-2011]:

image.png

Whole Nation Adjusted List Would be like this:

1.  Avatar - € 69,055,400  [3D Included]

2.  Quo Vado - € 68,632,600

3.  Titanic - € 67,855,300  [3D Included]

Without Re-release, Qou Vado would have become 1st.

PS. The document is not in English and it's real pain in ass to read through it by constantly translating to find out as I can't really understand Italian. There maybe minor errors but that's about right.

Yeah it's possible that the author of the site chose 1997 instead of 1998 because he wanted to have Titanic first for some personal preferences, or maybe he just made a mistake. However I found that also the popular magazine "Sorrisi e Canzoni" was talking about Titanic and its 71M already 6 years ago (Quo Vado? è il film italiano con il più alto incasso di sempre | TV Sorrisi e Canzoni),

and it's very interesting because in the 90s it was one of the few media that talked about box office and the number of tickets sold in the country

For the most recent titles instead I think the author simply takes the Cinetel total since it now covers almost everything, without adding the 5% that would indeed be necessary

So we can say that the ranking is far from perfect, but it isn't that bad and is definitely better than the official one 🤷‍♂️
