Lordmandeep
I would make a poll but so many suggestions. I go with Helms Deep from Lord of The Rings Edited March 7, 2014 by Lordmandeep
4815162342
Hmmm...best cinematic fight between two military forces. This is going to be tough.I have a lot of strong contenders to post, even if they are obvious. Starting with two that everyone knows.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WASr5-mS238https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xPZigWFyK2oMore to come...a lot more.
baumer
One of my favourites is the entire last battle between Anakin and Obi Wan in Revenge of the Sith.

acetabulum7
I would make a poll but so many suggestions. I go with Helms Deep from Lord of The Rings Omg, I forgot how incredible this scene was. I am almost in tears.
Dementeleus
I'm gonna skip all the usual suspects, because someone else will nominate them, and instead I offer "The Battle on the Ice" from ALEXANDER NEVSKY. It's an incredible sequence that has influenced countless filmmakers -- Kurosawa, Lucas, Mel Gibson, Peter Jackson, you name 'em. Unfortunately only the first part is on YouTube (but it's my favorite part, the buildup, featuring a fantastic score by Prokofiev.)
dashrendar44
Tele wins the thread, you can't argue with the russian Cecil B.DeMille who was Eisenstein. (Battleship Potemkin as well, the famous stairs scene during Odessa's battle).
4815162342
I think I've seen that clip before Tele (though not the movie). I agree it's an excellent build-up.
Dementeleus
I think I've seen that clip before Tele (though not the movie). I agree it's an excellent build-up. The movie itself is kinda goofy... pure cornball propaganda to build up the Soviet spirit against the Nazis. But that battle makes it all worth it. dashrendar44
Avatar's last f*cking 40 minutes. The actual end battle is only 12 minutes long (you can stretch that to 15-17 minutes if you want to include the final showdown between Quarritch and Jake/Neytiri). Yeah, I timed the shit out of it. Jessie
I think ROTK had a better battle than Helms Deep.
Dementeleus
I think ROTK had a better battle than Helms Deep. Yeah, both Helm's Deep and The Charge of the Rohirrim (or, on a bigger level, the whole Pelennor Fields) are fantastic.
Ozymandias
The Battle of Stirling in Braveheart(so visceral and violent) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PPcF1SN4YW0 and the Pelennor Fields in RotK(if you count all 4 stages) are the best of the last 20 years. I'd also say Omaha Beach in Saving Private Ryan, but that was more of a slaughter than a battle. Edited March 8, 2014 by Ozymandias
Dementeleus
The tank battle at the end of SPR is also great (although it's much smaller scale than these other scenes, of course). Edited March 8, 2014 by Telemachos

4815162342
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lChJz2DSpsEIt's the final part which sells it, a detached tracking shot of the horde progressing from the Turkish camp through the town to the sea that amplifies the scope of what the Bedouin surprise attack was.
