December 2014 could see Mockingjay Part 1 too. I don't really understand why Harry Potter or Twilight was never released in December. Seems like it would be better then November.

I think they are better to keep the March/November pattern.

I think if history has shown us anything, it's that Cameron actually doesn't care about money that much (in terms of personal finances). He's made plenty of decisions that, frankly, could've hurt him financially. He cares about the projects he makes and he'll do anything to get them done and made as well as possible. Directors don't usually give up their profit participation on a big tentpole. They don't spend years between projects, because that's how they make their living. Every year you don't make a movie is a year you're not directly being paid (although you might be getting residuals from previous films). And it's good Cameron's primary goal isn't money. Filmmaking is a TERRIBLE way to become rich.

QFL.

If China restricts what Cameron can do, he should definitely do Avatar 2 somewhere else.

We know from the co-financing for Iron Man 3 that if China is involved the film mustA- have a chinese character of prominence in the filmB- have at least one location in China during the film

The press conference was today. Planetary Resources is starting a 3-phase plan to mine asteroids for metals, rare elements, and water. The first phase is launching a series of telescopes to examine near-Earth asteroids for promising candidates. The next phase is sending missions to the best candidates (less than 50 meters, good ratio of metals) and guiding them nearer to Earth (either a Lagrange point or Earth orbit, I'm not sure at this point). The third phase is to start mining 'em.

Wow, how many years will all those phases take? is this for real or just stunt announcement? I mena, have they taken some real steps? Also, most importantly, will Cameron fly to space to drill the first hole?

It's gonna take years and years. They are planning on launching the telescopes within the year (I think there was a mockup on stage at the news conference). If all goes well, they might have a rover or remote exploratory expedition get to an asteroid by 2020 or so.

That`s fuckin awesome! A telescope withing a year? Now, what`s the difference about this telescope from other ones? is it going to be launched in space or is it bigger?
