The Dark Knight Rises OS Discussion Thread/700M+ OS CLUB

Recommended Posts

Overseas estimate is $378.4 million. Very good prediction by Fake! Last weekend, its overseas number went up by $3.8m, so Fake's $380m prediction might very well come true.

Fake has pretty much nailed the trajectory this whole run. 1 billion WW without China looks good for now.

I expect the numbers to be disappointing. I am ready for it.

WTF... why are you always pessimistic about TDKR numbers.It's a lock for 1b, OS>DOM (even DOM is getting to 450m, which is a great number no matter how people might spin it), biggest non-joker batman film, exceeding TDK in almost all markets etc. I could go on to prove you TDKR is doing freaking great and will be remembered for years to come.

To compare with TDK I give the numbers that TDK had in the same weekend (according BOM):

(The first number is TDKR and the second TDK)

UK 63.9 - 66.6 => 2.7 lower

France 20.5 - 17.2 => 3.3 higher

Mexico 20.8 - 15.3 => 5.5 higher

Germany 20.8 - 18.7 => 2.1 higher

Korea 35.75 - 19.7 => 16 higher

Brazil 15.2 - 10.5 => 4.7 higher

Australia 33.7 - 30.4 => 3.3 higher

Russia 14.0 - 5.5 => 8.5 higher

Japan 12.9 - 8.8 => 4.1 higher

Argentina 6.1 - 2.5 => 3.6 higher

That's 243.65 vs 195.2, so TDKR is 24.8% ahead than TDK in this countries in the same point. If we add a 24.8% to TDK 468 million OS we would have 584 million OS without China.

Is this number really that good or are people trying to make it look better than it is

It's tracking a 24.8% higher than TDK at the same point in the main markets. That's objectively a good number. If China number is good (about 70 million), it could outgross ROTK and TF3 WW total and reach rank 5 in all time WW ranking

Are you kidding me?

550m-600m finish for a 2d film without China is really impressive, and don't come out with the Imax boost shit because the format is not that popular overseas

If I'm not wrong there are only 2 IMAX screens in Spain showing TDKR :(

Only rich people can watch movies in IMAX, too expensive, and in Europe you don't have enough of them these days, except in UK.So I understand why.Prices are important, some people don't watch 3D movies for this reason.
