Barbie | July 21, 2023 | Warner Bros | Margot Robbie is Barbie. Ryan Gosling is Ken. | Second most profitable movie of 2023

Of course Robbie will try best actress. barbie can't try supporting in a movie called Barbie 😅

For Gosling maybe @Valonqaris right and if they smell they can have a nomination they will prefer best actor too even if with low chances to win. The nomination could be possibile like Depp made it with Pirates and other similar cases.

And Depp came really close to winning cause he won SAG. But nepo baby of nepo babies Penn was the frontrunner with overacting performance so he won. AMPAS likes to throw a bone to really zeitgeist performances and movies and this movie and Ken are that.

Deep should have been supporting, Bloom is the main lead in black pearl.

It's actually Knightley. But Depp cast such a long shadow with that role it changed people's perception of who the lead was so POTC became Sparrow franchise from then forward.

I know the movie has a positive feminist message, but it’s sad that the whole conversation around this press tour has turned into ‘Margot is so gorgeous and sweet and pretty in her outfits’ and ‘Gosling is so funny and talented and Oscar-worthy’. OK.

The fact that it has to be promoted this way to garner global interest speaks to how gender conventional things still are in the industry.

Selling Margot and Golsing puts fannies in the seats.

Selling a political message..even if you agree with it...does not.

That sounds lovely and all but…it would be good to get reactions from people who aren’t pre-obsessed with the movie and emotionally in love with it before they’ve seen it. Her a few hours ago…

You won’t, pretty much all women on film twitter that works as critics is obsessed with the movie

But is it really that difference from something like MCU? It’s a huge movie, people are excited

The fact that they expectations are too high and they’re happy is a good sign at least, because is easy to be disappointed when you expect too much.
