Great movie. Surprised how much I liked it...the only thing I didn't like was the too much of a perfect/happy ending with him getting back together with Sofia Vergara. But one of my favs of the year and look forward to seeing it again.A-Also, what's the deal with the scores? There are 5 reviews including mine, it says 4 members have casted votes, but I only see 2 scores?? And one of them is mine.

They must have clicked the option "View Results (Null Vote)"

This movie is a metaphor for Jon Faverau own career.

In the 90s, he wrote and directed independent films that got him acclaim (Swingers, Made) and put him on the map. In the 2000s, he continued to be innovative with successful big-budget studio films (Elf, Iron Man) but eventually he was experiencing constraints in the type of art he wanted to make (Iron Man 2, Cowboys & Aliens) and delivered lame products that upset critics who once admired his work. So he decided to say "fuck it!" and paid for his own super low budget indie comedy and got all his successful friends (ScarJo, RDJ, DHoff) to star in it for nothing. Here, he would produce what he knows he's good at, what he's known all along but lost sight of because critics and life and regret.

What is he good at producing? Comfort food. It's never focused, it's never challenging, it's not even all that funny. But it's indulgent. And that's who Jon Faverau may just be.

Two stars.

Ok, glad I'm not the only one who noticed this disconnect between what he was going for metaphorically and what we got literally. It's a bit of a contradiction, but I still liked it okay because it's a "nice" movie. Which is exactly what he was going for. I'll gladly recommend it to anyone because it's not mean spirited in the slightest and it has some laughs. The only thing I don't recommend is watching it on an empty stomach. You will be fucked.

I'm glad to disagree with Gopher again.  I agree with the metaphor stuff but I dont' agree with the 2 stars.  4/5 for me.  I'll write more later.

Easily one of the better movies I have seen this year.  I got the metaphor too, and I did like the shot at critics

Yes don't go on an empty stomach as there is major food porn in this :P

I thought it was pretty good, but not that funny. Still had a bunch of heart. A

I probably think it is funnier than you, but I agree that it wasn't a flat out comedy.  The heart and inspiring moments did carry the film :)

I don't remember this being billed as a comedy. It's way more of a drama then it is comedy but it does have some funny moments in it.

I enjoyed the movie all the way through. Mixing in social media and having the son teaching his father what twitter and vine were was amusing. The sending of the tweets was a nice touch. I always had ideas of owning a food truck and I am a foodie so this movie didn't hurt in that respect. It was a breath of fresh air after watching so many downer films or films that lack heart in general. This is purely a heart warming picture. Soundtrack was great as well. It never goes to high or to low.

The scene where he rips apart the food critic was well done and Leguizamo is a great addition.
