Godzilla will be over 40 for three day.

Needs over 10.5m or about a 130% increase today. So about the same as IM3 last year with FF6 and TH3 opening. Eh....I see something more like this:

4.6m

9.7m(+110%)

14.0m(+45%)

12.6m(-10%)

= 36.3m

I don't get how Pirates benefited from competition and Godzilla will drop 60%+........Pirates 4 had greater competition.

Notice how Pirates, Thor, and Fast Five all had surprisingly good holds? It's the same reason PG-13 movies hold well in October when the Paranormal Activity films came out. It seems silly, but teens buying tickets to PG-13 movies to get into R-rated ones is a thing. I don't understand it's full effect, but clearly there's writing on the wall. DofP is a major film in a well-established franchise being hyped as one of its high points. Clearly that's a pretty big threat to the Godzilla.

Frankly, I'm not convinced that Godzilla has stronger WOM than Pirates or STID. It seems sort of mixed.

Nope I honestly don't think it's a big enough trend to make a difference. And I used to be a teenager and I could easily have gone to any R rated film I'd like......... Heck I was 10 years old and I went to an R rated film many times before.

I never said that Godzilla was going to drop the same amount at STID. I was implying a range for Godzilla's second weekend. The competition will be substantially less severe than STID, so it should get to at least $35m. Also, I bet you the life of my family that Pirates would have had a smaller weekend had TH2 and KFP2 openened on Friday instead of Thursday, especially TH2. It increased 140% on Friday, and there's no way in hell that it's happening to the king of monsters.I'm predicting a $36.5m weekend, and I was just using two examples from history to give a possible indicator of where it could land. Don't tell me I'm not making sense, when I'm providing a reasonable ground for what I'm saying.

Spaghetti have you seen his username? Just ignore him.
