DAJK
Good thing this film improves on that and isn't meh. I'm so jealous that you saw this!! Can I ask a few questions? Was Barry Pepper in this movie at all? I read that he was, but the character he plays is supposed to be only in the third book. How were the effects/set pieces? I know Maze Runner was pretty good for 34M budget, but how does this one look? Big budget spectacle or still smaller scale?

Wafflecakes
The 75m number includes all costs. The film + marketing/distribution, which is not usually included in the budget. I believe it was mentioned in the Forbes article? 34m was the budget of the film making itself. Yes. he's introduced in the last act This is more big budget spectacle for sure, def not small scale as TMR First reviews: Variety (mixed) http://variety.com/2015/film/reviews/film-review-maze-runner-the-scorch-trials-1201586643/ THR (mixed) http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/movie/maze-runner-scorch-trials/review/820859 ComingSoon (mixed/neg) http://www.comingsoon.net/movies/reviews/479609-maze-runner-the-scorch-trials-review Crave (positive) http://www.craveonline.com/culture/898597-maze-runner-the-scorch-trials-review-truly-great-escape HeyUGuys (positive) http://www.heyuguys.com/the-maze-runner-scorch-trials-review/ Edited September 8, 2015 by antovolk

Mockingjay Raphael
43% on tomatoes?! Seems it will be so bad as Insurgent
antovolk
Wtf is going on with reviews lol. Highbrow critics hate it, movie blogs like HeyUGyys, Crave and Collider praise it....YA fatigue? Seriously, it's an enjoyable film though. And difference between this and Insurgent is probably heaven and earth so... Basically Edited September 8, 2015 by antovolk
Nutterbutter
The Tomatoscore is currently 38% (3 fresh vs. 5 rotten), but the average rating is 6.4/10. Looks like the "rotten" reviews aren't particularly negative but are being counted as such anyway. The first movie got 63% with a 5.9/10 average rating. DAJK
Obviously I don't like this score but I must hold out hope. For Maze Runner, the first batch of reviews had it at 40%.
DAJK
Maybe it's me being a biased, hopeful fanboy, but Variety's review reads somewhat positive.
TalesofToday
Maybe it's me being a biased, hopeful fanboy, but Variety's review reads somewhat positive. Variety's summary is negative actually, saying the film is unsatisfying and confusing and I imagine that is what RT is using to base whether or not its review is fresh. We can go on and on and on about how RT's methodology isn't exactly fair. But it makes no difference. I mean look at Black Mass and compare it to Scorch. What about comingsoon.net. A 6.5 rating should be fresh, but it is rotten because of how it reads. If you enjoyed the film that's great.
Nutterbutter
I've always wondered: Does RT or the individual critic decide whether a review falls under fresh or rotten?
Giesi
Pretty much this. Kid is so talented. I mostly want this to succeed for him. I found the books "meh". Yeah, he's a really skilled actor, even better than Lerman. He blew me away with his performance in Teen Wolf season 3B. I hope he can land a major movie role in the near future. Goffe
I've always wondered: Does RT or the individual critic decide whether a review falls under fresh or rotten? RT, some critics are not even aware that RT is using their reviews.
