Tuesday Numbers: GOTG 12, Lucy 2.6, Herc 1.6 (Rth) DBZ 1.07

Give it a 10% drop on Thurs and it's down around 8 mill.

So based on that the weekend would be about:

Fri: 12

Sat: 16.8

Sun:  12.5

About 40 mill or a 58% drop

Monday was a Canadian holiday.

And 2 other recent large movies, Godzilla and TF4, both dropped on their first Tuesday.

I live in Canada, I know it was a holiday but the first Monday in August, which is the Canadian holiday every year, doesn't skew the numbers that much.  2012, 2013, 2011, all saw openers increase on their first Tuesday in August.  So this was expected, not shocking at all.

Well Godzilla had shit legs and TF4 seems to be disliked by a good amount of people so those aren't the best comparisons.

I think GOTG will have a big Friday similar to Apes second weekend so I'm not all that concerned on how the weekdays play.

It's a partial holiday right?  Not all provinces participate.  Maybe that's why the numbers don't skew so much.

Smaller openers are usually more prone to increase on a Tuesday like that.

When the big ones do though, that's impressive.

Yeah but larger films generally receive lower first tuesday increases combined with Civic holidy it was reasonable to expect to stay flat or have a small 0-5% decrease

No.  You are making it out to be something special when it isn't.  It's performing the way it should perform.
