4815162342
Just as an aside, so this is what happens when you have a popular franchise 20+ years old (but that never really died and lived on in other formats) resurrected in a new movie. All you SW doubters... does the TMNT result make you rethink your low-end guesses? Because SW is TMNT on steroids. Lots and lots of steroids. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=loDKPWZRtbI

baumer
Wow, Get on Up is only going to finish at about 40 domestically, even with good reviews. Why aren't more Black audiences / moviegoers going to see this kind of movie other than really stupid crap like Ride Along, Think Like a Man 7, Bad Boys 13, Big Momma's House 5, Tyler Perry's Madea part 17, and others. Spike Lee has said before there is a problem here with African-American audiences often not supporting movies based on real people and real events. Maybe it sucks.
The Futurist
Get on up looks like your typical rags to riches biopic.Pass.

Dementeleus
Who wouldn't want to watch a guy who looks like Jackie Robinson play a caricature of James Brown in a forced knock off of Ray?Supposedly Bozeman is really good. The movie, not so much.
filmscholar
I think Chadwick needs to move away from Biopics after this. He's being typecasted to me. But he's a very good up and coming actor.
baumer
What does that have to do with people enjoying silly comedies? Don't ask. Ando is so much more refined and cultured than the rest of us. Every night after reading Encyclopedia Brittanica in a room lit by candle light, he saunters to him den where he drinks Cognac Frapin Cuvee 1888, smokes a pipe and sits in a rocking chair with his smoking jacket on. There is a roaring fire in front of him and his pet beagle is snuggled up on the white bear skin rug. In the background playing very softly is The Artist and The English Patient on a loop. Don't ask him such benign and silly questions.
Dementeleus
So, did you use Google or Wikipedia to come up with that particular cognac?
baumer
Too bad Spike can't get a movie made anymore. I mean, he had so many huge hits, didn't he?
baumer
So, did you use Google or Wikipedia to come up with that particular cognac? Google. I'm not as cultured as Ando so I have to do research to see what he would be drinking.

filmscholar
Too bad Spike can't get a movie made anymore. I mean, he had so many huge hits, didn't he? Yeah but B Spike is like a Woody Allen type as far as his films having low budgets. "Inside Man" is his biggest hit. Spike doesn't have the biggest box office but he does have the critical acclaim.
MovieMan89
Get On Up is a mild shocker for me. I honestly thought it had a very strong chance at 100+ going into summer. Or at least do as well as 42. The over 40 audience hasn't really turned up for anything this summer.

He was even pissed that Singleton was nominated for an Oscar for Boyz N The Hood. He's an arrogant tool who begrudges the success of other black artists. And he still looks like a cricket.
