$4.5 million ($162 million)

$3.75 million ($168 million)

$3.25 million ($173 million)

$2.5 million ($177 million)

$2 million ($180 million)

$1.5 million ($182 million)

$1 million ($184 million)

$185-188 million DOM

With the Blu-Ray moved to Apr 17, $170-175 million DOM isn't the ceiling anymore... wouldn't be shocked if Jumanji moves to 3/27, so Sony can get an extra week in the top 10.

Fox is good at keeping their films long after their dvd/Blu-ray releases. Hidden Figures was on the charts for months after it was released to home video last spring. Same with Logan, although that came to home video earlier than I expected too.

This damn movie is making a 20 multiplier, ain't it? Wow.

Yep. Only needs 20M to get to 20x, kind of inevitable at this point.

The run its having here in the UK is insane.

W1: £2.5M (6-day opening), #3
W2: -7%, #3
W3: -27%, #4

W4: -2%, #4

W5: -3%, #4

W6: +6%, #1

W7: -13%, #2

W8: -1%, #3

So it's gone from a 6-day holiday opening of £2.5M, to a weekend 8 of £1.92M. It's now bordering £30M. For perspective, Jumanji is at £37M. £30M is equivalent to about $300M if it was in the US. Crazy crazy numbers.

It's having weekly holds that only happened in the eighties ans nineties, correct? This is the kind of film that fascinates me: a movie that truly makes the term word of mouth meaningful. Who would have thought that a non-Wolverine film would give Jackman's career such a shot in the arm??

The holds are really really impressive. And these aren't like tiny numbers that are staying flat. £2M every weekend is a strong number, and it just keeps going and going. There are singalong showings selling out everywhere, two months into release, that is crazy. I heard on the radio a few weeks ago that Fox says it's the first movie ever to reach #1 in its 6th weekend.

Movies like this puts in perspective that no matter how much people know about numbers, trends, and stats, and no matter how much some of us think that we know all there is to know about predicting box office, what really really matters is how a film connects to the audience. Did anyone think "Oh...a musical about PT Barnum starring Hugh Jackman? That will pack them theatres and get a Titanic-like multiplier..."?? And then, when it opened to bad reviews and so-so numbers...who did not think it would disappear from theatres after three weeks?

Truly astounding little run...

Also...did anyone think that at the end of 2017 a Star Wars film that happened to outgross every film of the year and a Justice League movie that should have been one of the biggest superhero films of all time would be eclipsed as the movie narratives/buzzworthy titles of said year by films like Wonder Woman, Jumanji, and The Greatest Showman?  Amazing.

JL certainly had a very noteworthy run. Just for all the wrong reasons.

As for Showman, yup, those a bloody impressive legs. But let's not go totally berserk, they're riding on a still not-exactly-huge total. The real story, I think, is how much the soundtrack album has broken out on the charts. It's chicken and egg as to which is propelling which, but ultimately it shows there's still a real hunger for competently-made original musicals.

This has had an incredible run, even here in the U.K. so impressive.

Well deserved too.

This is the biggest WOM hit in decades.

"even" in the UK? We love musicals. It's done like twice as well as it has in America.

Same goes for la la land, which grossed more than Logan and Wonder Woman this year.

Mamma Mia outgrossed The Dark Knight that year. The same year that High School Musical 3 outgrossed Iron Man

Les Mis outgrossed Frozen. :)

The impressive thing about TGS is not its total; TLJ has an impressive total, and yet look at how utterly forgettable (and forgotten) it has been in regard to buzz. Any way you slice it, TGS is a monster, and a true blue WOM beast.

Lol, and the legs for both certainly reflect this. And yet some people here will still argue TLJ WOM wasn't poor.

It wasn't. It was a film franchise coming back down to reality after SW:TFW sucked all the "it's back" energy from a pent up fandom. Just watch JP:Fallen Kingdom is going to play along the same lines later this summer.

It was.

Anyone who says that it was not is just being an apologist.

Thing about SW films is that they are arguably the film properties with the largest fandom out there; there is no such thing as "GA versus SW fans"...the GA = SW fans, period. That's how thoroughly embedded in pop culture SW is.

So even a SW with a poor overall reception will do gigantic numbers. But come on, let's not pretend that TLJ is a beloved WOM smash that audiences are cherishing and talking up. Nah. It did what it had to do due to the insane size of the SW fandom, but... not unlike BvS and BATB remake before it, a huge segment of those who went to see it were not exactly thrilled about the movie.
