CoolioD1
I figured this would happen. Already had Eastwood as my alt in my oscar predictions, but now I think I'm throwing him in there. Sniper very strong w/ guilds.
Ezen Baklattan
It looks like Sniper might be getting in now, but I feel like similar to Woody Allen and Midnight In Paris, they're giving it to him as a gesture of, "Hey, he's a classic director who made a movie less shitty than the last few films he made!" rockNrollaDIM
Isn't the Tydlum inclusion more "meh" than Eastwood? I can't say, I haven't seen either film. But it seems TIG is King's Speeching it.
Jake Gittes
Tyldum has been in the race for a while though so I just kinda got used to his presence.
grim22
Selma got snubbed by the DGA, the PGA and SAG, the 3 biggest branches of the Academy. Doesn't bode well for the Oscar nominations on Thursday.

Midnight in Paris was great though. Haven't seen Sniper so I can't comment on it. I for think Tyldum shouldn't have been nominated. The direction of Imitation Game was nothing special I felt.

Cmasterclay
Awful that Tyldum got nominated for his vanilla, white bread direction in TIG and DuVernay, who directed a modern day classic. Such safe, prejudiced bullshit.
CoolioD1
I hope these snubs for selma aren't about that LBJ bullshit. that's a bigger nontroversy than the torture flak 0D30 got a few years back.

Such safe, prejudiced bullshit. Selma was great, but it isn't a modern day classic. TIG is nothing special though. With that said I do agree she should have been nominated over him. Jake Gittes
It's like nothing has changed since Spike Lee was snubbed for both Do the Right Thing and Malcolm X.

baumer
I don't get the Imitation Game love either. I haven't seen Selma yet or Sniper. But Sniper sounds like everyone is singing its praises.
filmlover
Why is Slema assumed to be getting all kinds of awards this year? Because it's an incredible, powerful movie. You must see it if you haven't yet.
