2015 Best Picture predictions!

Recommended Posts

What a strange year. Now Joy's out of the picture and I can honestly say that having seen Spotlight, Room, Bridge of Spies, The Martian, and Brooklyn none of them seem remotely like a BP winner to me. I guess Spotlight the most so, but just because I can't see the others standing any chance. Can't see how Revenant wins either. Maybe Carol will end up the frontrunner? Or if Tarantino can knock if out of the park it might finally be his year, but I'm very weary of the Academy actually going as far to award him. Getting nominated is kind of a battle in itself for him.

If they weren't so bullheaded about animation IO would probably be the deserved front-runner.

Well earlier someone said Joy was getting panned, it isn't panned, just not great reviews. It has a 53%, so it is out on best picture-unless if it somehow does a Loud and Close.  (Oddly when I scrolled over the title it said it had a 59%)

Ok...I know everyone will throw backlash at me for this, but here it goes...

David O. Russell makes The Fighter, a film made by Paramount.  It gets excellent reviews.

He then makes Silver Linings Playbook, which was made by Weinstein.  It gets excellent reviews.

Soon after, he makes American Hustle, a film made by Columbia.  More great reviews.

He then makes Joy, a film made by Fox.  It gets mixed reviews.

Fox messed up Fantastic Four.  Two very different films, but both released by Fox in the same year.  Also noticeable: A PG-13 rather than the standard R-rated Russell flick.

...Dammit Fox...

I'm pretty sure it'll be 9 again. apparently statistically 5 and 10 are the least likely numbers there's like a 5% chance for each or something. so just picture it'll always be 6-9. And since there's a lot of split opinions on a lot of movies I think 9 is the best bet.

sag awards announce nominations tomorrow. 90% of the time they get around 4/5 in the acting categories so should give us a good indicator of where everything is. my prediction for the ensemble category is: Big Short, Carol, The Martian, Spotlight, Steve Jobs. Would have hateful eight but like a lot of late december releases I don't think there were screeners yet so they probably didn't vote for it.
