Nah not with Avengers 2 being released. If ASM 2 was being released this year in May then last year then it might have a chance. I'm sticking with $1.4B.

Ha ha...I totally forgot. lol It all depends on China.

Todlja !

TF 4 was the beginning.

Except more ridiculous chinese grosses in the months and years to come.

Market still expanding like crazy.

Millions on people still waiting or in the process to become middle class and wanting western lifestyle including going to the movies.

What will be the next film to be #1 all time in China then?

the correct answer is Star Wars

Star Wars is not that big in China, Kungfu Panda 3 released in Winter Holiday, should break the record.

KFP3's release date change effectively means that it will get 8 days of holidays in China right? 300M should be easy for it I guess.

We haven't had a Star Wars film since China exploded as a market so you don't know that.

I thought Kung Fu Panda 3 got pushed back to spring?

It's being co-produced, if it's opening in Spring Festival Golden Week, it will break all kinds of records.

Aside from Paddington, the family films this year haven't been having very good legs. :/

How so? Spongebob, Cinderella, and Home all had 50m+ big openings and will end with a 3x+ multi. That's good for any 50m+ opener today. We can't look at multis the same way as we did even at the start of the decade. 3x indicates good legs these days for basically anything opening over 40m, including family movies.

FOX moved it to January.

Laughing at the fact that Paul Blart has a solid chance of winning next weekend.

No body is talking about it after the new teaser, while BvS was really hot on social media.

Star Wars really has a small fanbase in China, I say EP7 will be modest hit at best, sequels have big potential though.

The fun paradox of China is the grosses are huge but Hollywood get very little back from them, 25% being the consensus though I am sure it varies between studios and specific contracts.

China is really starting to skew box office results, its almost like having 2 domestic markets if you know what i mean.

That s exactly what is happening you are right.
