Chewy
There's a lesson to be learnt here though. We need to keep our expectations in check, the first Avengers was that huge because it was a perfect storm of quality, hype and novelty. A sequel was never going to have that no matter how good it was. lol. Been typing that exact thought for months. People don't listen, people won't listen. There's no lesson to learn here, this is a recurring thing. People will always assume that sequels to huge hits will hold up, and point to the exceptions instead of the (overwhelming) majority
MrPink
Going to go see this again to donate some money to this poor movie. Be back in 4.
kayumanggi
It's Neo. I guess he is still expecting an 85 M weekend. Completely disregarding BOM's number. lol
kayumanggi
Change it back. You are the TC. Oh but that would be disrespectful on my part.
Dementeleus
I updated the title to reflect both. (It sounds like BOM would be the official estimate, though).

The Futurist
JURASSIC WORLD opens on June 10th. What are the others? I think there are more local chinese blockbusters this time around.
Dementeleus
No just updating to latest numbers. lol There's a conflict between them and we shouldn't assume one is automatically right, especially when the two are so far apart. BOM isn't in the habit of running with pre-official projections either.
Jandrew
Said $78m in the BSG. Could be right on the money again. Hoping for BOM's number.

MonstersandRoy
US audience getting smarter at recognising when they are getting cashed in on with a poorer product, but the studios are lucky the international audience (more specifically China) havn't caught on. Just look at the drops in the Transformers movies stateside. If you want to keep making astronomical money stateside, you gotta keep the quality up or improve the film's. I think the majority of audiences thought Avenger 2 was a reasonable step down from Avengers 1 + many other Marvel movies. I know some don't. Be at $300/$310m by end of the weekend. Impossible that it finishes below $430m? Seems to be dropping faster than IM3. Edited May 9, 2015 by MonstersandRoy

Dementeleus
It's not just BOM. BO reports the same number, 21.33 M. Not to mention 21.338 is a ridiculously precise "projection".
