Jurassic World Weekend Thread | Official Est. 204.6M | 208.8M - Actuals

If that happens, it better have some sexy ass legs.

With the reviews it's getting, it'll likely have a 4x from a $70-80 million OW. From a $45 million OW, I'd think a 5x-6x if it gets stellar WOM. Unlike Ratatouille or WALL-E, this looks like it'll please young kids as well as adults (similar to Up, Toy Story 1-3, The Incredibles, Finding Nemo, Monsters Inc)

This is so insanely massive you guys: just think, we haven't even reached the family audience yet, this can have monster SAT and SUN holds. We could be very well looking at minimum 130- maximum 160M.

Amen. I'm working at a summer camp, and like half the kids have been talking about Jurassic World all week. This may very well be 160M+. GOTG looks like a good comp for various reasons (Pratt, original-ish blockbuster since GOTG was in the MCU and Jurassic franchise has been dormant for 14 years, great family appeal).

Could this June beat 2013's for the June record?  Jurassic World is going to easily trump MoS, Ted 2 (especially with Universal's current hotstreak) could possibly equal White House Down and The Heat combined, Spy should hold strong, Inside Out should also play out well.

JW - $475 million

IO - $325 million

Ted 2 - $235 million

Spy - $120 million

Max - $105 million

Insidious 3 - $50 million

Entourage - $30 million

Dope - $20 million

It's certainly possible... but it depends on a lot of things.

Inside Out breaking out

Ted 2 increasing over the original

Max breaking out

Spy getting some legs

JW having a leggy run

Dope doing decent

While Pratt has only been in blockbusters since his career took off (so he hasn't been fully tested as an independent leading man), it's quite obvious audiences love him.  They should pair him and JLaw in a rom-com and get an explosive hit.

Imagine this ensemble cast for another rom-com anthology movie:

Chris Pratt

Jennifer Lawrence

Channing Tatum

Emma Stone

Chris Hemsworth

Anna Kendrick

Chris Evans

Shailene Woodley

Shit would be so huge, both in budget and in revenue.

Jurassic World over The Force Awakens

DOM?

It would need $500 million+ DOM for that. After its third weekend, we'll have a good idea of how likely it is to be over SW7. The hype for that is equal to JW... 6 months before its release date.

Every Universal tentpole this year has broken out much bigger than expected.

Given their hotstreak I'll go ahead and say

Ted 2 OW Over 70m

Minions OW Over 100m

Trainwreck OW Over 25m

Straight Outta Compton OW Over 35m

Everest OW Over 30m

Crimson Peak OW Over 40m

I'm not sure how leggy JW will be. If it wasn't for the last 5 minutes of the movie I would be predicting the legs to be pretty weak. But those 5 minutes might cause the WOM to spread like a fire, I don't know yet.
