Disney paid the cost to be the boss.

Now all they have to do is release movies from their big three every year to remain a top studio.

Hinestly there's probably at least a good five years where these acquisitions will keep them top of the heap.  Maybe longer if they can keep the quality.

And whether I like it or not, Disney live action becoming a live action fairy tale factory...I think that'll work ok.

Theyre good for awhile.

Long term will be tough, keeping the excitement on the same brands year after year, Star Wars puzzles me the most because here Nostalgia helps the excitement for FA & the first trilogy and first Anthology movies but when they start the second trilogy, it will be a different ball game.

I agree...this gravy train will have to take a new shape in time.  Igers successor has work to do.

Ill take the job.

The Bond franchise was really a trailblazer.

The way they produced those movies so fast, one per year in the beginning with the tagline at the end : James Bond will return.

I mean it's more common now than it was then but Bond wasn't the first franchise to do this. ;)

Historically yeah I know but the fact the brand has survived makes it special.

I was also gonna talk about putting brands in the movies, product placement, all the brands Bond used became iconic.

The key long term for Star Wars is making movies that are not in the time period and not related to the main story line.  If they keep he quality high and tell stories from other times and not involving the Skywalker family the universe is so expansive they will be fine.  But so far all of the spinoffs they have announced haven't branched off that much (although Rogue One sounds awesome) which concerns me a bit.  They will have to branch off to keep the money train rolling more than the next 10 years.

So saw Spectre. Thought it was solid. Could have used some of Skyfall ' s energy as it really lagged in places.

Having said that, I think in the end cinema history will look to Spectre as the best Craig Bond film.

Why do you think Spectre will be remembered more fondly than Casino Royale or Skyfall?

My five best Bond films (I did a ranking over a year ago, on the Godzilla weekend numbers. This won't match that though).

1. From Russia With Love

2. Casino Royale

3. Goldfinger

4. Goldeneye

5. You Only Live Twice

Just a hunch honestly. Skyfall is a great modern action film and such but it's already facing backlash. Casino Royale is a good origin film, sure, and I know lots of people who liked it better than I did but I just don't see it being remembered as the prime film of the Craig era. Sure, the reception right now might seem timid but there's plenty of films we consider masterpieces and classics that had timid responses when they first came out. Spectre is solidly build, has great direction, good action scenes. A bit predictable, sure, but I think on repeat viewings when it goes to other venues it will grow on most people. Seems like the kind of film that would.

I really want a Knights of the Old Republic film but I don't know if they'll go that far back.

No no I strongly disagree. I think it'll be remembered as The Dark Knight Rises of Craig's films. Shares so many attributes in quality and form

First of all, I know Skyfall is facing backlash right now but I could be wrong and in the end the backlash will die down and it will be remembered as the best film. But here's the rub: I won't know if I'm right or wrong until about 20 years have passed. Just like you can't say "it'll be remembered as the Dark  Knight Rises of Craig's films" because not enough time has passed for the Dark Knight films to make such a statement. This is about the long game. I liked Skyfall way better than Spectre but I'm taking my personal feelings aside because the whole point of said prediction isn't how people are responding to the film now but in the future.
