DEADPOOL WEEKEND THREAD | Deadpool 152.193 actual. Daily breakdown on page 159

Recommended Posts

Fox is estimating that Deadpool drops 60% today, wouldn't be surprised if it bumped up to 18 or 19M. Kingsman dropped 46% last year, that drop would give DP a 23M Monday. Will rth grace us today?

Don't forget last year Sunday wasn't inflated by Valentine's Day ;)

Last time Valentine's Day fell on a Sunday (2010) there were big drops for pretty much everything the next day except the family films:

  • Rev is 20m from 180m. Awards should help it touch that.
  • SW looks set for 935m, has a decent shot at 940m.
  • After the 65% 2nd weekend drop, Ride Along 2 looked set for 80m. But that drop was inflated due to the storm. Now it's on 83.5m with a 5m 4-day. So 90m looks good.
  • Daddy's Home is 3m from 150m. Should get there as it had a 1m 3-day weekend.

Agreed

Films and comics are different languages and have different audiences.

The BO & quality successes of most of the SH movies have been possible because they went beyond the comics to appeal a broader audience.

I was afraid Deadpool would make the same mistake as Sin City. Fortunately, it didn't. Hence the success.

Deadpool is one of the most accurate and purist Marvel movies ever made.

It's not the poster boy for straying from the comics.

That would be The Spirit.

Just for shits and giggles (I'm off today and have nothing to do), I complied the top 20 grossing R-rated films of the century adjusted to the 2015 price of $8.43. So far, the 2000's were far kinder to R flicks than this decade.

  1. The Passion of the Christ - $502.6 million

  2. The Matrix Reloaded - $393.6 million

  3. American Sniper - $361.3 million

  4. The Hangover - $311.7 million

  5. Gladiator - $299.6 million

  6. Wedding Crashers - $275.2 million

  7. The Hangover Part II - $270.5 million

  8. 300 - $258.1 million

  9. Hannibal - $245.9 million

  10. Scary Movie - $245.6 million

  11. Ted - $231.7 million

  12. American Pie 2 - $216.1 million

  13. Terminator 3 - $210.2 million

  14. 22 Jump Street - $197.8 million

  15. Erin Brockovich - $196.4 million

  16. The Matrix Revolutions - $194.8 million

  17. Traffic - $194.1 million

  18. Bad Boys II - $193.8 million

  19. Knocked Up - $182.3 million

  20. Troy - $181.1 million

Who ever thought an R rated Deadpool movie could challenge Matrix Reloaded adjusted.

That's like Squirrel Girl hitting 250 m.

The fact that you love the X-Force comic so much that you really want to see a specific lineup on the screen does not make it a good decision for them to use that lineup.

Tim Miller has hinted to adding Laura Kinney aka X-23, and there have been some hints that Olivia Munn’s Psylocke could make a crossover.

So if he gets his way, she will be in it. Plus the great x-23. Man that be great

Exactly. I can even tell the Joe Kelly's stories it was inspired on.

I find it hilarious that Passion is easily the highest grossing of them but has had a worse legacy than all the others.

The success of Deadpool brings us one step closer to a Dogwelder movie.

I'd be ALL OVER  a DCEU rated R version of Hitman.

Hitman4thJulyBig.jpg

Hitman #34 is one of my all time favorite comics ever.

latest?cb=20111007231356

A hitman with x-ray vision called Tommy Monaghan with his own rated r movie based on the brilliant Garth Ennis run. Holy shit, Warner. Make it happen.

Wait, does Warner lost the rights for the name Hitman because of that stupid videogame? Because that would suck.

American Sniper shocked us all to say the least. But isn't Passion a bigger shocker. Both ow and legs wise?

Passion 83.84m / 370.77m

Sniper 89.26m / 350.12m

Passion's multiplier did get helped by the fact that it was a wed opener.

However once you adjust for inflation, Passion just takes it away -

117.46m / 519.43m
