I'd like it to do $1b so WDAS becomes the first animation studio with two billion-dollar movies.

Are there any other markets left? If this fails to cross 1B, Pixar might do it with FINDING DORY.

BH6 - a quiet WW blockbuster. Did a huge 435m OS.

Even KFP3 I think is expected to do a similar 450-475m OS despite a much bigger China than BH6 and an established franchise following.

Quiet but kinda expected. This was a superhero movie in 2014, a year in which every superhero movie crossed 700M - even the atrocious Amazing Spider-Man 2. It was Disney Animation's newest film since this little thing called Frozen. And it was the only major movie in the family market during the time. All it needed was favorable WOM and it would've done great business.

I imagine nobody paid it much attention since all the hype was centered on Interstellar, which yeah, didn't turn out such a hit. I guess people kinda don't like to discuss BH6 since it was sort of a buzzkill for Interstellar (continuosly beating it at the BO and all)? Even though IS did beat it WW. Bit of a similar situation to the Mad Max: Fury Road vs Pitch Perfect 2 feud.

Just barely, really.

True, but still counts as an adaptation. Just like countless other adaptations that put a dramatically different spin on the source material, such as Starship Troopers turning a serious book on military, political, and social theory of the future of democracy into a B-movie satire on fascism.

I dont think Dsiney expected Zootopia to breakout like this. The marketing was not even that spectacular. Now the bar is raised for Finding Dory.

Ummmmmm... The marketing was pretty spectacular if you ask me
