I doubt it. The reason nobody blinked was because Disney most likely thought that Alice had the young girl market cornered since X-Men would mostly appeal to young boys.

Alice was probably hurt by the massive success of Zoo and Jungle, which have provided an embarrassment of riches to fans of "family" movies. Oftentimes at this point of the year families with kids are yearning for this kind of movie, but not this year.

I think Disney just now realizes to make sequels to their live action films that got good reviews and not release them 6 years late.

Didn't know Malef 2 was happening. Sounds like a bad idea. TJB2 will happen imo. TJB has been way better received than these first installments. Just don't take 5 years Disney.

Disney will quietly pull the plug on Maleficent 2 after this weekend. Unless they can fast track it to next year, there's no point.

Not waiting 6 years to release a sequel would probably be a good idea. I am not saying Alice 2 wouldn't drop hard if it was released in 2012/13 but 6 years is fucking insane.
