Pa Kent felt his son should regularly let people die instead of saving them through his powers. And he told him this to his face! Putting aside the terrible guilt he's arbitrarily dumping on Clark, the movie pushed the "father's concern for his son" to such an extreme that Pa Kent comes across like some weird Randian uber-man. Hardly the decent and kind Kansas farmer he's supposed to be.

In a microcosm, this is one of my general main issues with MOS (and Snyder) in general. He forces everything to such a black-and-white extreme that people cease to be characters and instead become a one-note symbol for one particular theme or aspect.

He says "maybe" when asked by young Clark if he should have let people die, that's a fitting anwser to a complicated question. B&W approach would be JK saying that Clark should have saved them no matter the consequences, cause "collectivity above all".

Pa Kent is a cynic in a cynical world, he sacrificed himself for his son. Personally, I find him extremely interesting.

Maybe everything comes down to clashing ideologies.

Why is the last one bold? If anything it suggests that the people claiming that the bad reviews would convince more people to see the movie were wrong. Doesn't say anything about the people who decided not to see Suicide Squad because of the bad reviews.

Right? Because those people didn't even show up to see it :rofl::rofl:

Excellent number!!

Hopefully, audiences will love this enough for the franchise to live on.

All this behind the scenes stuff is quite nightmarish. This Leto interview is haunting even, with the kind of weight that Joker holds and the amount of criticism he's getting when supposedly most of his scenes and arc were cut out makes me feel bad for the guy. Geoff Johns really needs to clean the house and make things start ticking fast, because I really would like see a sequel to Suicide Squad, WITH THE PROPER AMOUNT OF PREPARATION, without rushing it, and with a whole team of knowledgeable people assisting Johns. But oh well. Fingers crossed, I really wish Leto's take on Joker gets put to good use, and that this gets better legs than BvS. It deserves it.

Russia scored the industry’s biggest opening day of all time with $3.9M on 2,482 screens, and a massive 93% share of the Top 5 films. Australia kicked off with $2.4M on 516 screens, commanding 74% of the Top 5. The opening figure includes $350K in midnight shows which rank as the 2nd biggest of all-time for a superhero title. According to Warner Bros, the start was 205% bigger than Guardians Of The Galaxy and 18% bigger than Deadpool.

In Brazil, with 85% of the Top 5, the launch was $3M, including sneaks, on 1,405 screens. That makes Suicide Squad the biggest opening day ever in August, the biggest Will Smith opening day and the 3rd highest opening day for WB. Regarding comps, WB says the Brazil bow is 171% bigger than GOTG and 14% higher than Deadpool.

Holland also opened on Thursday, with the biggest opening day of all time for a superhero movie, the biggest opening day of 2016 and the biggest August opening ever with $517K on 158 screens.

Eastern Europe and the Middle East delivered a collective $5.7M.

In second-day holds, Korea maintained the No. 1 position with another $1.8M for a total $4.7M. France has now cumed $4.2M. There is one clarification to be made regarding the comp averages on France’s opening day below. Factoring in previews for both GOTG and Suicide Squad, the latter actually came out 33% above the former, rather than 80%.

Run that poll then. Do you want them to go around and ask people on the street "hey, are you gonna see SS despite its bad reviews!?"

There shouldn't be a poll. Asking people if they came to see Suicide Squad is a stupid question because its not like it got rave reviews. Thats a question thats better suited for a film that got praised because then you can see if the good reviews influenced people to go see the film or not. Suicide Squad got trashed. Those who showed up did not show up because they were swayed by the reviews to go see it. And those who were swayed not to see it, well they didn't go watch it.

Nah because I don't care that much. I'm just saying the poll isn't that conclusive. Jeesh.

Honestly all this Leto stuff is just showing how much of an ass hole he is. He's not being edgy or anything. He's being an ass hole. Why would he talk about an actor's death in that manner especially when he is portraying a character, who if the actor didn't die, would still be portraying him? Thats very insensitive and completely unnecessary.

Sounds like he has a wonderful career as a Republican if he wanted it.

I don't like mocking people for that. We don't know the state of mind that they are in when they say these things. And I don't think he comes off as an asshole either. I think he sounds alarming, actually.

Warner Bros.' Suicide Squad is making a killing at the Friday box office, where it looks to earn at least $60 million for the day on its way to an August-best domestic debut of $140 million or more, according to early returns. http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/box-office-suicide-squad-making-917376

The people who complain he wasn't really Superman would argue that the whole point of his character is that he's better than us. That's how a human reacts, sure, but Superman is supposed to represent the best of humanity.

why would he be better than any of us? he was raised by humans, it only makes sense that he would be as flawed as anyone else.
