We had three big new openers (we're ignoring the pitiful one) last weekend.

 

So I have a simple question, What will their final combined gross be? 

 

Below are a list of possible totals that the gross could pass:

 

(For clarity the three films in question are Madea, Reacher and Ouija)

 

1. Rocky 3: $125.05M   2000 / 1000

2. Divergent Insurgent: $130.18  3000 / 2000 

3. Mission Impossible 3:  $134.02M 5000 / 3000

4. Rush Hour 3: $140.1M   7000 / 5000

 

5. X-Men First Class $146.4M  10000 / 7000

6. Mad Max: Fury Road $153.6M   13000 / 10000

7. Die Another Day $160.9M   16000 / 13000

8. Three Men and a Baby $167.78M  20000 / 16000

 

9. Rain Man $172.8M 25000 / 20000

10. How to Train Your Dragon 2 $177.0M  32000 / 25000

11. Jurassic park 3 $181.1M   40000 /  30000

12. Mr and Mrs Smith $186.3M   50000 /36000

 

 

All you have to do is pick a number. If the three films combine to gross higher than that number then you win the number on the left (it does not matter if the total goes on to gross more than other choices).

 

However if the combined gross of the three films finishes lower than the total you have picked, you will lose the total amount of points stated on the right hand side. 

 

Oh and one more thing. 

 

If you sucessfully choose the exact window that the combined gross finishes in, then your winning score will be double. HOWEVER if you miss out on points by just one gross window, you will lose an extra 10,000 points on top of the amount stated. 

 

To Give an example:

 

1. Rocky 3: $125.05M   2000 / 1000

2. Divergent Insurgent: $130.18  3000 / 2000 

3. Mission Impossible 3:  $134.02M 5000 / 3000

4. Rush Hour 3: $140.1M   7000 / 5000

 

You predict MI3 as your choice, there are 4 possible scores that you may score:

 

Possibility 1: The combined gross falls between $134.02m and $140.1M - You win 10000 points (double 5000)   

 

Possibility 2: The combined gross finishes higher than $140.1M - You win 5000 points (safe answer)   

 

Possibility 3: The combined gross finishes lower than $125.05m - You lose 3000 points (Standard wrong answer)

 

Possibility 4: The combined gross falls between $130.18m and $134.02M - You lose 13000 points (extra 10 loss for missing by one gross window) 

 

Oh you could also just abstain for 1000 points

 

No answer of any kind will lose 5000 points

 

Deadline is Thursday at 11:59pm
