AMC Theaters Enjoyer
I’m not gonna bother to try to predict this film’s OW. OOC, how has it been doing overseas in terms of pre sales?

SpiderByte
A 200 million + OW would be industry shifting. When it's happened the industry pivots to follow it. With Avengers it was cinematic universes, with Jurassic World it was reboots, Star Wars it was legasequels. If Deadpool hit it it changes the approach to R rated films for the next decade. 1 1

Well actually, you'd need someone like Deadpool & Wolverine to do that at first place. I would say Deadpool & Wolverine itself is a result of industry shifting movie which showed the money in different universe crossovers - Spiderman NWH. JustLurking
The great industry shift new trend of mining nostalgia, but now in R-rated movies (what's that, they're already doing it in R-rated movies too? no no, industry shifting I tell you!)

More crossovers? More nostalgia? More cameos? What note do you think studios will/should take out of this film?

WittyUsername
If NWH was considered nostalgia bait, then so should this.
Porthos
16 minutes ago, WittyUsername said: If NWH was considered nostalgia bait, then so should this. NWH is a curious case of nostalgia bait combined with wish fulfillment (multiple Spideys team up). In the case of DP3, the nostalgia for Wolverine is clearly there, but I think it's more the wish fulfillment/fans have been pushing this for literally 15 years. So it's a combination of clear nostalgia for '00s movie era Wolverine + pent up demand for this particular team up. How much one thinks its factor A versus factor B along with how much each are feeding each other is probably up to the person looking at all of this. THUNDER BIRD
So now that 160-165 million opening is "reasonable" and 200+ was too much. Funny stuff, did they learn nothing from Inside Out 2.
Cooper Legion
200M used to mean truly huge opening business, largely not the case anymore. Both why it’s possible and why it won’t be “industry shifting” if it does happen
