will Trolls be considered as a success??

its currently sitting at 177mn WW(71 DOM+106 OS)...DOM should do another 100mn...OS it may double current total considering it has opened in every major market apart from AUS..

probably looking at a 400mn WW finish off a 125mn budget

Ridiculous weekend.

Yep, fun weekend ;)

Chinese film / Tv ... are signing with India, Saudi Arabia,... a lot of new projects. Plus ~ technology, see IMAX VR's $50m deal

One is that here

China, the next 'motor' for the film industry... with per law forbidden films, that might present China in a not good way (new law since week for film importers, seemingly crack down on BO fraud,...) ???

Wanda's founder... is China's richest man (something around $31.7b), followed by Alibaba and Tencet (who was also signing deals this week).

Plus:

Official Party newspaper points finger at well-known directors for dipping box office takes. Article cites easy money flowing into industry as a culprit in increased quantity but low quality of new films. People’s Daily also criticizes celebrity culture, especially films designed to glorify young stars.

In my impression ppl and governmental ppl in China react to articles of the official party paper

Plus: China and Trump have to discuss the foreign films in China limits/ 'contract' and...

Curious to see how that all will impact middle term and long term film making (Doctor Strange: looks to reach / surpass $100m, surpass Ant-man, maybe CA 3 beside fallen exchange rate, might not have gotten a Chinese release if they haven't changed source materials Tibet to Nepal - at least some film fans think so)

China surpassing theatre count of US since this week (or last week?) (a lot of the newer ones are smaller theatres)

= might be interesting to observe for US users hree too?

Mel Gibson's HACKSAW RIDGE is a fighter; the war drama dropped just -29% w/ $10.7M, $32M total.

BILLY LYNN'S LONG HALFTIME WALK began its journey this weekend with $120,300 on 2 screens, $60,150 per.

: Well-made wizard tale mixing great VFX w/ Roaring 20s glamour. Only for fans, but their size is ginormous! $1B possible.
