Jumanji 3 would have made some serious monies if it had released this December. Not sure what's taking them so long, maybe they realized the second one was just a lazy rehash of the first? 🤔

looking back at this the actual numbers aren't terrible, especially since it didn't have China and Russia. Hell the international gross is bigger than Quantumania if you subtract that movie's China gross. The main problem is the ridiculous budget. If this had the same budget as other Rock vehicles it would have been a modest success

Seriously. $200M for a Black Adam movie is borderline delusional. He's on the same level as the likes Deadpool, Wolverine and Judge Dredd, and therefore doesn't need a budget bigger than $100M. Had Dwayne been modest for once in his life we likely wouldn't have seen James Gunn become the new DC leader. But if @grim22 was right then it was for the best it underperformed.

Looking back, this may be one of the most important movies of the decade. It killed a whole franchise, arguably a whole genre, and caused The Rock's popularity to be a laughing stock and rework his entire brand and movie strategy. If this thing was a hit, he would not be doing an A24 movie. Nor WWE for that matter. This is like our modern-day Cleopatra.
