AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR | 1369.5 M overseas ● 2048.4 M worldwide

Recommended Posts

Another great weekend for Avengers in Poland. IW is already the biggest superhero movie based on comic books in my country (after 1989). It beats Suicide Squad in just 12 days (11 without previews)! :)

Sorry that all the titles are in polish, I couldn't find such a list with original titles.

If we consider also films before 1989 (dark times in Poland, but with much, much bigger admission every year :P) the biggest would be... Howard the Duck with over 3 million tickets sold. :D

EDIT: Okay, IW isn't #1 yet if we consider Men in Black as superhero movies (also based on comic books) - 839 708 admission. I can't find right now precise number for Howard, and there's no data about Superman I-IV movies in Poland. Dark times, as I said. :P

The last 7 days, Monday April 30 to Sunday May 6th, IW made $331.78m overseas.

Monday and Tuesday were inflated by the holiday, take off about $50m from those 2 days for the holiday and you get 280.

55% drop gives it 125m OS-Ch for this coming week, $840m

50% drop gives it 140m OS-Ch for the week, $855m

Not sure I'd go beyond a 50% drop, 840-855 seems like a good target for this coming Sunday, I'm not sure if it's too optimistic honestly.

Plus China, 190+840 = 1030

210+850 = 1060

240+855 = 1095

Plus 535-550 domestic, 1565-1645 worldwide next sunday.

Great projections.

Can’t believe that The Avengers WW gonna be bested in just 20 days.

Still thinking that Avengers 4 gonna decrease from this one in total. But opening week/weekend could be crazier.

If it does somehow pull it off (fat chance), then A2 will just come in another 18 months and crush what ever the current record is.

Did you know that when Avatar ($2.78b) came out, the next highest grossing non-Jim film was $1.1b? Titanic was double the second highest grossing film at the time of it's release also.

Avatar had 2.5x multi against next non-jim!

I'm praying Infinity War P2 makes 4 billion dollars so we can see the first 11 digit gross, that way, everyone's happy.

That film was Return of the King:

6 years of inflation and beginning of expansion of many markets in favor of Avatar.

ROTK did not have 3D.

ROTK did not have China (it grossed $10m there).

And something that always is forgotten: Avatar had, by far, the most favorable exchange rates ever.

I guess you are joking about Avatar 2 repeating proportionally the same success than Avatar relative to ROTK.

In this case the biggest non Cameron film by December 2020 should be Avengers 4 or Lion King. Many conditions that will not be repeated unless dollar suddenly collapses or inflation becomes crazy between 2019 and 2020 everywhere.

Of course I was joking! I am expecting close to $4b for Avatar 2 though.

Woahh Stallone starrer Judge Dredd in 22nd spot :what: Looks like Poland is one of the few countries  in OS where Judge Dredd did well considering it flopped in US.

Sly was a huuuge star in Poland in 90s when VHS market was in its prime. :) Also, I like his Dredd, better than the new one with Carl Urban.

How did his other movies in 90s perform here? Hits/Avg movies like Cliffhanger, Demolition Man, The specialist or Assasins and Daylight?
