Journey will hold for sure. It's a holiday in the US and in two provinces in Canada. So kids movies will do well today.

^ On second thought, that's a fairly decent number for This Means War and if it holds in the actuals then we have an all top 20+ mil earners top 5. It's not a big disappointment but somewhat underwhelming that it can't beat the three holdovers but given the awful reviews, this is a solid OW

that is actually in the same ballpark as movies like Knight and Day and The Tourist which had much bigger starpower so it is really not that bad actually

Agreed. 17.5 mill is quite good and with the Monday number putting it over 20, it has a good chance of hitting 50 mill. Reese is not that much of a draw outside of her element and the two leads are completely unproven, so all things considered, its a good opening.

Very good numbers for the holdovers, good for TMW and sadly bad for Nic Cage. Poor man... He does not deserve all that hate. Overall, 127M for the top 5 is very good. More or less the same as 2009, which had the Valentines Day push. 2012 continues surprisingly strong.

From that number for The Vow, one would have to guess that they underestimated the Sunday drop, since otherwise they're predicting a drop of nearly 57% on Monday and I can't see any reason for it to fall that hard. No movie fell over 50% on President's Day last year and the only reason movies dropped so hard on President's Day in 2010 was that it was the day after Valentine's Day.

And they predicted $8-10M for Chronicle. This Means War did a decent number but studios under-predict all the time.
