I would love if The Shape of Water hit 100M, but an inter-species love story might be a bit too out there for a lot of people. If it's the frontrunner for BP, I could certainly see it hitting the mark, but it also depends on how Searchlight expands it.

IF Dunkirk makes 200m domestically it will be the 2nd highest grossing world war 2 film domestically.

Saving Private Ryan really was a beast. For a War drama to win the yearly DOM crown is astounding.

Was it really special to do so in 1998 ? I imagine more than in the 70s, but it was not as astounding/surprising than in 2014 when Sniper did it, 1998 was still before the definitive shift toward franchise overlord always getting the yearly DOM crown that really started in 2001.

I would imagine that a Spielberg movie specially with Hanks or Cruise was always expected to be a potential number on back in those days.

That said I could be completely wrong, was not following any of this until recently.

I always kinda have the current Box office landscape in my mind but you could be right. The 90s were still a star-driven period i suppose. Still, SPR adjusts to 400M+. For a brutal war film, that is just a massive number.

I'll take a stab at this, but only the top 10 (Unreleased titles bold):

1. Star Wars: The Last Jedi: $870m

2. Beauty and the Beast: $504m

3. Wonder Woman: $411m

4. Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 2: $390m

5. Justice League: $385m

6. Spider-Man: Homecoming: $329m

7. Thor: Ragnarok: $314m

8. Despicable Me 3: $268m

9. Coco: $240m

10. Blade Runner 2049: $234m

I think people are selling Blade Runner 2049 short, and I do think it has a mix of novelty/nostalgia/hot director that will make it breakout.

That's WAY too high for Blade Runner. I could understand something around 130-140M, but I highly doubt it's going to be accesible to the GA. It's a two and a half hour slow moving sci-fi film, and the original Blade Runner isn't THAT big.

I think it just has all the right elements going for it. If it's good, I think that it will breakout hard.

She has not yet proven she can cause a movie itself to get to 140M on her name alone.  Your prediction makes no sense.  You really must be betting on IT to have shitty reviews, because if it doesn't get bad reviews, it's gonna bite you in the ass

All I'm gonna say is that they are investing A LOT of money into this. I'm getting Twitter promoted tweets and youtube ads for this quite constantly, and I wasn't even aware of this existing before this weekend.

I'm predicting 55/125 for It. How is that not good? It is an entirely different horror beast to predict.

I'm here for Wonder Woman. What a run. I thought $300M would be fantastic. Absurd run by her.

I was called nuts for my $358m prediction.

The highest I said it could get if I'm not mistaken weas $380-$390m, but as soon as Tele made his club over Spidey 1 I was in.

The trailer was still trending on YT this morning. All it needs is good reviews and good WOM to explode. Paramount is nailing the secrecy of it.
