okay cool, but Warner is still confident that RPO will be a hit given that they started marketing it 8 months before its release date and they are already attaching it to multiple movies.  If they decide to release a trailer for FB2 with RPO, then they'll do so with the impression that RPO will be a success.

Are you seriously trying to argue with Mr. “Depp did nothing wrong?” Don’t waste your time and energy on him.

Comics are much more conveyor made and there's a lot more ambivalency to showing them when you consider Wizarding World is their most successful IP and these characters are huge fan favorites that haven't been seen in a film until about a year ago.

I do think the content of the film plays a role. They've already teased first photos, which typically means a trailer of some sort is cut together somewhere, and the film looks like it has far too many characters and plot lines and locations to market and sell audiences on for it to just casually start marketing too late in the game, along with all the other reasons.

The "wizarding world" is not WB's most successful IP; DC is the clear cut winner since their 3 most successful films domestically are DC products (it's definitely in second place though).  the only "fan favorite" in the new film is Dumbledore, so I mean you kind of have a point there, but The Flash could also be considered a fan favorite by comic book fans.

Teasing first photos doesn't necessarily mean they have a trailer ready; they're just willing to show the fans some material to keep them occupied until a trailer releases eventually.  And as I've said before, 7 and a half months before release =/= "too late in the game."  In fact, if anything, it's better that they market it a little later so it'll be fresher in people's minds come release date.

The Wizarding World is their most successful IP by far. It gets consistently good reviews, has next to zero bad publicity, and really routinely grosses in the 800 to 1 billion dollar region worldwide. Stop being a silly fanboy. There's no argument there.

Saying a film franchise is the most successful because of its domestic numbers and ignoring its horrible PR, its mediocre WW BO, and it's routinely poor critical reception is really stupid.

Even so, it's domestic numbers are typically in the 200 to 300 dollar range, so there's zero credibility to the idea of DC being more successful than it. That simply isn't the case.

Also, they need to market Albus Dumbledore, Gellert Grindelwald, and Nicolas Flamel, as well as the families of familiar Death Eaters. So no, Dumbledore isn't their only huge "touchstone" character.

There’s some irony in there.
