Neither is Atonement or Darkest Hour. If it weren't for Dunkirk being the Best Film of 2017, they'd make a nice trifecta of meh.

I have not seen Atonement.  But given that I think Darkest Hour is pretty damn solid maybe I’ll see it and it could end up being a nice trifecta of two very solid films and one meh film

I kinda feel bad for Darkest Hour that it's become that pick for the annual movie that gets a ton of Oscar love and very few people on BOT seem to like it. But then I remember the movie and I'm like "yeah, not really."

darkest hour is poo. atonement is a lot better but still kinda meh i think between the two it's the more technically accomplished (that SCORE that CINEMATOGRAPHY that DRESS!!) and better acted (Ronan rules) but the love story is hollow to me.

Atonement falls in the Had to Watch In High School For English Class camp, which always seems to ruin movies for me.

Darkest Hour is good. Atonement starts off strong but gets pretty boring in the second half.
