Sony is putting together some Oscar favorites for the latest adaption to Louisa May Alcott’s beloved classic novel, Little Women. Greta Gerwig, who received critical acclaim for her directorial debut feature, Lady Bird, is set to adapt and direct Little Women, which could potentially feature a big cast. Oscar winners Meryl Streep and Emma Stone, Oscar nominees Timothee Chalamet and Saoirse Ronan, and Florence Pugh are all in talks to join the feature, which is under Sony’s Columbia Pictures label.

this is like the third little women adaptation to come up in the last year and deep down all of them know they're not gonna be as good as the '94 version which is a perfect film. i'm sure this'll be a nice time killer though.

This will automatically be in my Oscar predictions for next year :sparta:

winona not winning for the last version in literally maybe the weakest year ever for that category is a top five Oscar fuck up! but saoirse's working hard to get hers. meryl wants another one too. emma stone's character isn't that baity or interesting.

Can't wait to see Beth die and Jo spurn Laurie like a self defeating idiot and go on to marry a paternalistic creative soul crusher like Alcott's father.  Again.

Why doesn't someone adapt the Gothic thrillers Alcott loved and preferred to write - A Long Fatal Love Chase would make a hell of a movie.

Haven't read/seen anything in question but A Long Fatal Love Chase already wins based on the title alone. I'd watch whatever that movie would be.

yes I think Little Women From The Director Of Lady Bird should be scared of Little Women From The Studio Behind God's Not Dead

greta gerwig's about to get Andy Serkis Jungle Book'd big time.

The general populous isn't going to care how well this is filmed, acted, and executed if the adaption of Little Women that is releasing wide this September somehow breaks out. Of course, it's within her right for Greta Gerwig to try this, but this isn't really fair for this year's adaption.

Timothee Chalamet >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>. Lucas Grabeel

It's the book that was rejected by her publisher for being too lurid so she be begrudgingly wrote Little Women when he suggested "a girl's story" instead.  It wasn't published until 1995.

She made her living though pre Little Women writing Gothics, Thrillers, Plays but books like Little Women were deemed more worthy and ladylike..   LW is also rather autobiographical which is why what Little Women and then Little Men does to Jo is really damn depressing.  But it was a huge hit and since she kept the copyright it made her rich.
