The Good Dinosaur | Peter Sohn | BR/DVD release 2-23-2016 | Pixar's first BO flop

Recommended Posts

I'm counting MU too. So yes, only two "franchise continuations" beyond TS sequels, but they also happen to be 2 of the only Pixar films that aren't great. So they leave cause for concern for future non-originals.

I really liked MU.  It's certainly better than both Cars. Also Brave and probably A Bugs Life.  Also as good as anything in Up after the first exceptional 10 minutes.

I saw a Good Dinosaur coloring book going over the entire plot of the movie, i stopped reading after a few pages since I feared get spoiled.

Way to go Disney, for letting spoilers get out 2 whole months before the movie comes out. I can't I'm say surprised, all the twists in Frozen were spoiled the moment the Frozen novelization was released months before the movie, I somehow managed to avoid all of them. Disney being Disney.

It might be best to stay away from Tumblr, or other spoiler allowed forums until after seeing this movie.

Good Dinosaur Footage Review: Pixar Goes to the Frontier

A lack of humor would actually be a good thing for Pixar. As much as I think there films can be hilarious, I was always interested in seeing a Pixar film that played it mostly straight. Up got close, but Good Dinosaur looks like it'll be more even closer for me.

You may have not liked Up, but it was played quite straight, so was Inside Out. Both films had humor, some of which was pretty hilarious, but they were overall very serious in tone.

Inside Out I agree with. Up I just can't. Doug's entire purpose is just to be funny and I feel like a lot of the things Russell says are meant to be funny too.

Well, I didn't say all of the film was played straight. Doug was certainly there to provide humor, but Carl certainly wasn't a cheerful or amusing protagonist. Charles Muntz was also a realistic villain, and pretty dry in his delivery.
