Thor: Love and Thunder

7:00 PM opening night Salt Lake Sugarhouse Cinemark.

95% full.

Trailers:

Amsterdam

White Bird

Paws of Fury

Strange World

Avatar

A few murmers at Amsterdam and Avatar, otherwise no reaction to the trailers.

For an opening night Thor crowd, this was pretty sedate. Scattered laughs throughout, but the big third act

Spoiler

Natalie Portman scene with Gorr that was supposed to elicit cheers

was met with total silence. No applause at the end but most of the audience stayed throughout the credits.

Did a totally unscientific survey afterwards of 7 people. Two loved it, two thought it was "a good time," one gave it a B-, one said it was alright but had too much humor, and one girl said she was glad she got drunk beforehand because she didn't think she would have liked it if she'd had to sit through it sober.

Marcel the Shell with Shoes On

9:45 AM

15 People. Mix of adults and families.

Trailers:

Avatar The Way of Water

A Love Song

Fire of Love

Ms. Harris Goes to Paris

There were two families with little kids who were loud the entire movie which was really annoying. One of them kept going in and out of the theater most of the movie. They ended up walking out early during the last few minutes of the movie. Otherwise, big laughs from the adults in the theater. It actually seemed like the adults were enjoying it more than the families with kids. I feel like this is a movie that adults will appreciate more than kids because of the themes. Overall, great movie despite an annoying audience.

NOPE

7/24 11:30 AM. Dolby Atmos

40-45 people.

Trailers:

Beast

Barbarian

Bodies Bodies Bodies (Red Band Trailer)

Bullet Train

Oppenheimer

Even though it wasn't a huge crowd, the audience was great. Lots of laughters, "oooooo's" during a couple moments, one girl screamed at one scene. One guy cheered and applauded during the climax. Audience reception seemed mixed overall though. Someone said "that was the stupidest movie I've ever seen" as soon as the credits rolled and I heard another woman say "I was bored the first 45 minutes", but also heard some positive comments leaving as well. I honestly loved it. Wish I had waited to go at night and see it with a bigger audience.

Bullet Train: Early Access Screening 4DX

8/2 7:00 PM

80% Full

Trailers:

Strange World

Avatar: The Way of Water

Jaws Re-Release

Shazam: Fury of the Gods

Devotion

Black Adam (4DX)

Audience was into it. Laughs, reactions to the violence, a few jumps. 4DX effects got good reactions at a few points. I heard positive things from people walking out. I thought the movie itself was OK.

DC League of Superpets, noon session on a Wednesday, just me and then a mom and a kid.

Trailers:

Shazam: Fury of the Gods (no reaction)

Dragon Ball Super Hero (kid said "I don't like anime. Anime is Japanese")

Strange World (no reaction)

Lyle Lyle Crocodile (kid said "I want to see that")

Kid had a good time, laughed at a few of the jokes. I laughed at quite a few of the more adult jokes, an enjoyable watch for sure.
