druv10
What are the expectations for MU this week? OW and total?
Heretic
I'm not in country but from what I've heard its still very good weather, so grosses might be muted again. I'd say at least £7-8m though, with the whole of the summer holidays for its gross to be spread out.
PhilipJ2001
i'm not feeling a whole lot of buzz for monsters university here.. very low advance bookings as well. hope it's more of a walkup film
Heretic
Heatwave alertd this weekend, I think grosses are gonna be down again. This has been one of the warmest and sunniest July's for years so far. But summer holidays start next week, so everything has plenty opportunity to rake in the money. Olive
Not good for MU.
aliadiere29
When I went to see Man of Steel today, my 2:10pm screening was about 20% full, which is pretty decent. Edited July 12, 2013 by aliadiere29
RthDeadWov
Fri MU is easily #1 might hit 1m (which is less than 1/2 DM2 OD that also had preview prior week), PR be #2 around 700k, #3 DM2, #4 NYSM

druv10
Oh, shit. Don't worry, Heretic said weather is a killer right now but Holidays are starting soon so legs will be great.
Jonwo
Kids films tend to stick around so I'm not too worried about Monsters University, PR did okay, MU has no competition until Smurfs 2 in three weeks so it'll have strong weekdays once the holidays arrive. The last time a big film had a low OW but ended up rebounding was MIB3 which did £2.9m but ended up increasing the week after. BTW did Man of Steel hit £30m Rth? Heretic
Trust me it's definitely the weather. Everything will rebound massively when it cools down... But I don't know when that'll be.
CJohn
It cooled down here this weekend. Despicable Me, Now You See Me, WWZ and Monsters University are rising from last weekend. And After Earth is having a good OW.
RthDeadWov
weekend will be MU then DM2(sat/sun not too far behind MU), PR fall to 3rd place and NYSM #
PhilipJ2001
any numbers for those films Rth? I have to say, this is one of the most disappointing openings I can remember with Monsters U (compared to my expectations at least). We're mirroring what you said above with it only just out performing Despicable Me 2 yesterday and today, which when you think that is on its 4th weekend is terrible. SchumacherFTW
I'd love to see some legs grow for Pacific Rim. The film seemed to have a good reaction when I saw it on friday evening.
Jonwo
Looks like MoS has is almost at £30m, its total is $45m which is around £29.8m so its hitting that milestone today.
Sam
Looks like MoS has is almost at £30m, its total is $45m which is around £29.8m so its hitting that milestone today. Is it still on track to reach $50M total?
