Films
What if has been moved up 2 days to Wednesday 20 AugustWild will be released 23 January 2015Someone worked out releasing 3 high profile animations in 2 weeks would not work so spongebob Squarepants: sponge out of water has been delayed 1 and a 1/2 months to 20 March
Films
Fault in our Stars has some shows at 18:30 tomorrow at Odeon cinemas. Early previews I guess. My local has 3 18:30 shows, and they're all full. Definitely gonna break out. Also has same time showings at most vue cinemas and I think it is showcase cinemas as wellThey are special advance screenings and you get a pre-recorded Q+A, limited edition poster and fan passesSO EXCITED. I AM GOINGIt has 2 showings at my cinema. One has 20 seats remaining in one of the biggest screens and the other one has 5 seats remaining in a smaller screen that was only put on sell two days ago
SchumacherFTW
Only one showing at either of my locals on Thursday. Cineworld seem to have less faith in fault than the other 2 big chains.

SchumacherFTW
We have wide spread midnights coming for the first time this year! The distinction goes to transformers! Probably the only film other than Mockingjay that'll get them this year.
PhilipJ2001
bet it wouldn't be getting them if it was a regular Friday opening. the Saturday opening means the midnight shows make a lot more sense as they are really on Friday night now. Jonwo
Midnight openings are really up to studios, some like WB or Sony tend not to have them, Skyfall didn't but still did mega business and nor did The Hobbit. I hope we don't see more nine day openings, just release the film on the Friday.

Heretic
Sounds solid for Dragon, it didn't have many shows at all. Edited June 16, 2014 by Heretic
Heretic
Sony’s sequel adds $3.8m (£2.26m) to hold off newcomers and the World Cup; Warner Bros’ Oculus is the highest new entry with $701,000 (£413,000). With the World Cup in full swing and the overall market down over 100% on the same period last year, 22 Jump Street held well to retain top spot at the UK box office. Sony’s sequel jumped to a further $3.8m (£2.26m) for a strong $16.6m (£9.77m) after ten days in play. It will shortly overtake 21 Jump Street’s $17.1m (£10.1m) UK lifetime gross. A likely target for 22 Jump Street is Bad Neighbours which currently stands at $27m (£15.9m) and is the year’s strongest comedy to date. First, it will hope to become the fourth film this year to go three consecutive weeks as the UK’s number one. DISNEYHaving flown into IMAX cinemas on Friday [June 13],Maleficent continued its excellent run with a $2.6m (£1.5m) third weekend. Disney’s reimagining of Sleeping Beauty has now conjured up $23.1m (£13.6m) in the UK and shows little sign of slowing down. It has every chance of hitting £20m if it continues to hold well. FOXX-Men: Days of Future Past is now the year’s second highest grosser at $42.1m (£24.8m) and still has an outside shot of hitting £30m; Fox’s latest X-Men outing teleported to a $1.5m (£902,141) fourth weekend as it remained in third. Also for Fox, Father’s Day previews of How to Train Your Dragon 2 resulted in an $881,000 (£518,729) haul. Currently, the animated sequel will be officially reported from its Scotland and Ireland opening on June 27, with its England and Wales previews added to its nationwide opening weekend on July 11. Amma Asante’s Belle recorded a $690,000 (£406,729) UK debut from its 411 sites through Fox, and will look to record healthy mid-week returns given its target audience. Rio 2 has amassed $25.6m (£15.1m) after 11 weeks in play. WARNER BROSRounding off an identical top four to last week and posted the smallest drop of the four at 33%, Edge of Tomorrowfought its way to a further $1.3m (£744,000) for $9.7m (£5.7m) to date through Warner Bros. It’s unlikely to hit the $23.1m (£13.59m) heights of Mr. & Mrs. Smith, but the action sci-fi could still challenge director Doug Liman’s last venture into the genre,Jumper’s $14.6m (£8.6m), given a lack of direct competition opening during the next few weeks. Undoubtedly affected by the World Cup (and specifically the England game on Saturday night), Oculus scared up $701,000 (£413,000) from its 378 sites. Warner Bros will be hoping it can serve as a genre alternative in the coming weeks to sustain a solid UK run. Also for Warner Bros, Godzilla added $379,000 (£223,000) for $28.7m (£16.9m), while Grace of Monacoexperienced a hefty drop to take $112,000 (£66,000) for $918,000 (£541,000) after ten days in play. UNIVERSALNow in its third week of release, Universal’s A Million Ways to Die in the West took $282,000 (£166,000) for $5.1m (£3m) to date. LIONSGATEPostman Pat: The Movie delivered a fourth weekend of $135,000 (£79,574) for $4.9m (£2.9m) to date through Lionsgate. EONET.S. Spivet started its UK run with $76,000 (£44,777) from its 53 sites through eOne and, like Belle, will look to capitalise midweek. In terms of this weekend, it recovered from a soft Friday to post solid numbers on Saturday and Sunday. Also for eOne, Jimmy’s Hall fell over 60% in its third weekend to add $47,000 (£27,599) for $731,000 (£430,726) to date. DOGWOOFReleased in four sites through Dogwoof, 112 Weddingsgrossed $3,200 (£1,860) on its UK opening. UPCOMING RELEASESThis week sees saturation releases for Fox’s The Fault in Our Stars (opens June 19), eOne’s 3 Days to Kill and Warner Bros’ Jersey Boys. StudioCanal’s Chinese Puzzle receives a wide release and Arrow’s Arthur and Mike opens in Ireland, while Metrodome’s Miss Violence and Sony’s The Art of the Steal are among the films receiving a limited release. Great for 22 Jump Street, should top £15m. Maleficent is doing really well too, targeting $30m now. X-Men should pass $45m comfortably, but not sure about $50m just yet. As for Fault this week, I expect a pretty big 4 day opening. £4m is possible.
BudStarr
Long time lurker, first time poster. Love this thread. Do you really think TFIOS can manage that, Heretic? I've seen huge hype on social media. Does anyone know how the previews did?

Heretic
It can definitely happen imo. It had previews last Thursday and every show I saw was packed. Plus, it's perfect counter-programming for women who are sick of the World Cup already.

SchumacherFTW
WelcomeI think TFIOS will open +£5M (but I am like the only one who thinks this) At the moment, I think the minimum it needs for success is to beat divergent. It's certainly doable.
