The Wild Eric
https://deadline.com/2022/01/kevin-costner-horizon-western-movie-direct-star-august-29-start-date-1234921230/ Quote EXCLUSIVE: Kevin Costner is set to get back behind the camera for the first time since 2003’s critically acclaimed Open Range. Costner will direct the period Western Horizon, setting an August 29 production start in Utah. Costner will star in the film, produce it and finance it through his Territory Pictures production company. While he has been busy starring for the past few years in the hit series Yellowstone, Horizon has been a longtime passion project for Costner, and one that has the sweep of his 1990 epic Dances With Wolves, the film that won Best Picture and Best Director Oscars for Costner among seven wins out of a dozen Oscar nominations. Horizon chronicles a multi-faceted, 15-year span of pre-and post-Civil War expansion and settlement of the American west. “America’s expansion into the west was one that was fraught with peril and intrigue from the natural elements, to the interactions with the indigenous peoples who lived on the land, and the determination and at many times ruthlessness of those who sought to settle it,” Costner told Deadline. “Horizon tells the story of that journey in an honest and forthcoming way, highlighting the points of view and consequences of the characters life and death decisions.” 1
Macleod
Awesome. He's been trying to do this for almost 20 years! Now that Yellowstone has renewed his cache, he must be in a good position to. Can't wait! And OPEN RANGE needs a US Blu-ray or 4K disc!!!!
dudalb
Hope this is as good as "Open Range" which was a excellent Western, with one of the all time great gunfights as the climax.

filmlover
How the hell did Paramount not do everything in their power they could to nab this after what a sensation Yellowstone has proven to be for them?

I think the term Period Western scared them off, forgetting that Open Range did quite well in that genre. But I agree, dumb move on Paramount's part. But I agree, dumb move on Paramount's part. Doesn't Yellowstone have not one but two spin-offs (at least in the works) that are period Westerns? I guess it's different since it's a TV show and they can't be sure that audience will go to theaters again. TheDude391
This is made in a lab for me, throwback to the Hollywood epics of old...BUT EVEN MORE. I hope these at least get a limited theatrical run but oh man an 11 hour Western sounds awesome. He's cashing in his Yellowstone checks hard.

Given there only a few theaters in the world that are equipped to show Cinerama movies, I sort of doubt it. Hell, I don't think there are any Cinerama cameras in working order.
