TalismanRing
GOTG will fall like a rock with all this new competition Eh, it's already making less than a 1/20th it opened to, not that far to drop. It's had a leggy run for Russia. That upcoming schedule though is jammed. Any guesses on which films will break out a bit?

juni78ukr
Guardians added 200k Monday-Wendesday With 11 wide releases every holdover will drop pretty hard. Lucy should be the only movie above $1m. Edited September 11, 2014 by juni78ukr
Fake
Guardians has held really really well. I don't recall the last time a movie did over 500k in its 6th weekend. Avatar must have done it, but I don't think many other films would have done it.
juni78ukr
New openers were doing so bad for two or three weeks that theaters were desperate. That's another reason why many of them still play Guardians and Turtles, some of them returned Maleficent, Dragon or even Avatar.
TServo2049
Seriously? Avatar is STILL playing in some theaters in Russia? I have never heard of a non-museum film being in continuous theatrical release of some kind for almost five years - even The Sound of Music eventually had all prints withdrawn after its nearly three-year theatrical run... juni78ukr
Seriously? Avatar is STILL playing in some theaters in Russia? I have never heard of a non-museum film being in continuous theatrical release of some kind for almost five years - even The Sound of Music eventually had all prints withdrawn after its nearly three-year theatrical run... It's not exactly a continuous theatrical release. It just reappears across the country now and then, mostly in heartland far away from Moscow. In March or April 20th Century Fox sent a letter to movie theaters that they can show Avatar or Life of Pi for one year without any restrictions. If there is a lack of decent movies like now theaters can try to bring back an old one. And people will come. Some of them probable never heard of Avatar. According to Rentrak Avatar grossed 1.18 mln RUB in 15 theaters last week with 3,932 admissions. $32k
