Can Netflix get 4 nominations? Sea Beast, My Father’s Dragon, Del Toro’s Pinocchio, Wendell & Wild.

I doubt that, but it’ll really depend on the quality of its competition too.

In rare case they’ll get 4, it might hurt their chances by splitting the votes…

Oscar Predictions: Best Animated Feature – Award-Winning Filmmakers Guillermo del Toro and Jordan Peele Jump Into Animation Race

  1. Del Toro's Pinocchio.
  2. Strange World
  3. Wendell & Wild
  4. Lightyear
  5. Marcel the Shell

This is severely messed up, and not just because it doesn't predict Turning Red getting a nomination.

Misstates directors of both Turning Red and Inu-oh.

Variety should do better

What the hell is Lightyear doing here?

The Disney/Pixar factor alone will have some folks (who are cautious or less knowledgeable) predicting its nomination for pretty much the rest of awards season. As we get closer to awards season though, I think stronger films will ascend through the critics circles and Lightyear will eventually get crowded out.

yeah no way Lightyear will win ANY critics awards.

I think there might be an even split between Turning Red, Marcel, and Del Toro's Pinocchio.

NYFCC: Turning Red (Marcel the Shell)

LAFCA: Pinocchio (Wendell and Wild)

Oscar predictions:

1. Turning Red

2. Pinocchio

3. Wendell and Wild

4. Strange World

5. ????

My Father's Dragon or Inu-Oh maybe.

Not sure about Luck even though Lassester is involved

I don't buy Marcel making it yet

I have misgivings about Strange World, but I don't really know how it will pan out.

Marcel is eligible, according to the director, so we'll see.

It's probably going to be turning red just by virtue of Disney/Pixar films having an absurd advantage on this, I wouldn't stress over this too much. It's probably not going to be the best film in the competition but the academy doesn't really take this award seriously anyway.

Well I'm a huge fan about Turning Red so I do care. I don't care most years.

Still wondering about Del Toro's Pinocchio.

BREAKING NEWS

Linklater’s Apollo 10(1/2) was rejected as animation by the Academy. It’s out of the race.

Since when is rotoscoping not animation?

I mean, I've never been the biggest fan of it either, but it's still an animation technique. Ridiculous decision by the Academy.
