12 8 Dredd 3D Univ./Const. $ 177.456 -63,6 951.873 2

While BD2 ruled the weekend (of course) and Skyfall is still holding incredibly well, it's nice to see two arthouse/Indie productions opening in the Top10 plus Indie-film Cloud Atlas with a strong hold. Dredd crashes and burns.

This weekend the Guardians are opening wide and might make it to the Top3 or even 2 if Skyfall crashes, everything else is on a smaller scale. BD2 will easily dominate the weekend.

With good holds from last week's Top 3 and 4 openers in the Top10, a satisfying weekend, even if  "Rise of the Guardians" and "Killing Them Softly" have rather mediocre to disappointing numbers. Turkish love story "Evim Sensin" with the best PTA (lots of sellouts), but those are events for the community and usually have very steep drops. Mad3 is near the end of its run; 43 million and counting is ok but IA4 stands at more than 77million.

This weekend, "Wreck it Ralph" will probably wreck other CGI films and might even top the list. On a smaller scale, "Anna Karenina" enters arthouse theaters and downtown multiplexes and should make the Top10. Other notable events include the LotR-marathons in many cinemas Sat+Sun which are nearly sold out, though BOM doesn't count these events, same as Verdi's "Ballo in Maschera" from the Metropolitan Live series on Saturday - so overall numbers might look a bit depressed after the weekend because the biggest screens are booked for these events, but theater owners will rejoice.

yep, might be a fun flick. And I forgot about "Trouble with the Curve" which should be Top10 material too, even if baseball is an absolute non-topic here.btw, in Austria (and I guess in Germany too), Skyfall and BD2 propelled November to unexpected heights. Nov2012 had about 1,7 million admissions which is the strongest November since I don't know when, at least 2000. And that, together with upcoming hits Hobbit+WiR, means that 2012 will end in a much friendlier mood than was to be expected at the beginning of 2012. We won't reach 2009 heights, but 2012 should at least stay level with 2010 and 2011 and easily beat 2006-8.
