atm 4mil seem likely - as mentioned, it got not competition (which is a bit strange in December but there you are)

Yep, and good holds too. Especially Frozen will have some very nice holidays, and FJG might see a rebound once schools have closed.

Hobbit2 should be about where Hobbit1 was by Sunday evening; last year's opening Wednesday was really not that big. So, basically, from now on we can expect similar numbers - the real test will come with weekend nr.3 (H1's strongest).

Yep, at least it's no bad news . It's the same as last year, weekdays are slow and business picks up on Friday. No frontloadedness at all, don't know why it behaves like that, but so the missing Wednesday is not that sorely missed

80mil ist the obvious goal, yes. Though it's really about the legs, as everywhere during xmas holidays. In Germany, AUJ's strongest weekend was not the opening one, but the 3rd.

AUJ weekends in Germany:

we1: 1.085mil admissions

we2: 1.038mil

we3: 1.236mil

on we4 it dropped below 600k and we5 to 300k. Real holiday movie

While everything really depends on legs, but this can't be bad news, seeing as the two Hobbitses will be head-to-head by monday even if DoS has one day less in release.

1.259.086 admissions for Hobbit 2 - Hobbit 1 had 1.238.266 despite the Wednesday release. And nice holds for FJG and Frozen, while some powerful releases are ydet to come - December is shaping up to be one killer month at the BO!

btw, with this weekend's numbers, "Fack Ju Göhte!" is the new nr1 film forGermany this year; it will be overtaken by Hobbit2 but nice and unsuspected success!

Thursday evening update: While holdovers are strong, previews and presales indicate the Dinosaurs are on their way to instant extinction ... otoh, "Machete Kills" seems to do a lot better than expected (it was expected to bomb, but seems to attract enough interest to finish in the "respectable flop" category).
