TASM opened with $4m, can the sequel beat that?

Should beat it easily, I was thinking 7 - 8m US$ in Austria+Germany combined. Which it will miss with "only" 425k admissions, still the best 2014 opening so far.

So this is another decent but not massive opening for ASM2.

Well, it's better than ASM1, so yes - decent. Thing is, ASM1 hat wonderful holds (even an increase on weekend #3) - let's see how ASM2 does but since easter monday was a holiday, I suspect it will drop a bit harder.

Friday trend for Germany's weekend:

 

TASM2 - 200k admissions (a drop >40% - meh)

Rio2 - 150k (excellent)

Lego Movie - 140k

Transcendence - 110k

Ride Along - 105k

 

That's in fact a bit better than I expected for Transcendence, still a flop.

Basically no idea but imho 500k admissions total would be a success. Germany doesn't like grown-up fairy-tales; they get marketed towards children and put in afternoon shows where they're left to rot. The only way this could do better is if the youngsters love it - which seems difficult; the trailer seemed too dark.
