Kinda surprised at TS4, 80k is still rather awful -66.7% but certainly not a 75% drop. TLK is kinda disappointing considering its so late in its run that every harsh drop will hurt a lot, none the less cinemas might try to keep it in as many rooms as possible next weekend considering its still pulling in strong numbers. And there isn't any proper big alternative for kids as TS4's total won't reach TLK's opening weekend (not in admissions and definitely not in € or $). If TS4 gets 80k it at least should mean it will approach a final total of around $7M avoiding being the lowest grosser, none the less being the lowest in admissions is still possible and likely. "Expansion" = 2 showings on the whole weekend in theatres in northern germany, that's not a normal expansion. Don't know how it was in the middle parts. I'm positively shocked about Benjamin Blümchen, the character is so present in every kid household that I though it a sure candidate for 1mil total. Next weekend: Angel Has Fallen, Playmobil (bombs away?), The Operative, Paradise Hills, Little Monsters, some local releases … a LOT of stuff but nothing to really liven up the boxoffice. Maybe the horror-themed ones might see a little success thanks to little competition. 4

Taruseth
So for this weekend we are in the unique position of the biggest movie getting 4 showings on Thursday-Saturday and 5 on Sunday. And that is... Toy Story 4. The other two movies with 4 showing on Thursday-Saturday are Hollywood and TLK with TLK having 4 on Sunday too but Hollywood only 3. And Good Boys gets 4 showings too and 3 on Sunday like Hollywood. So movies in there 3rd, 3rd, 7th and 2nd week have the most showings... Mmmh EDIT: Really interested how this weekend will turn out, should overall be slightly more cinema friendly than the last. And Sunday/Monday temperatures are supposed to drop to 18-25 °C or so in all of Germany and then be a bit more rainy during the following weekend when It 2 opens, which would be really favourable to it's weekend (Horror AFAIK is a little less weather depended than other movies. Order of weather dependency is probably something like this: Arthouse < Horror ≤ Adult ≤ Superhero/Fantasy/Science-Fiction < Live Action movies < Animated movies. In other words: The higher the kids and family share the more dependent its on the weather. But! just because a movie is LA or animated doesn't mean that it will increase the next weekend.) For this weekend I think that TLK and Hollywood both will have a rather low drop (hopefully both below 20%) but I think TS4 will have a harsher one, maybe around 30%. Thinking Playmobil will be the reason, that will hurt the "kids movie" TS more than TLK. Also: Despite the lower than expected weekends I still think TLK can hit 5.2M (was at 4.66M after the past weekend after the next one it should be at 4.76+M and then decreasing only a little (It 2 will hurt a little even if weather is way worse than this and last weekend) it would approach 4.86M and after that it should add 300-400k more. Hollywood unless flat this weekend will fall short of 2M, maybe around 1.7M or so (likely right now would be below that but I am optimistic despite It2 most likely hurting this the most). TS4 should be happy if it gets past 720k and avoids a sup-3x. Edited August 28, 2019 by Taruseth
el sid
The bad news was already mentioned: The weekend weather is predicted to become too nice, at least on Friday and Saturday. The good news is that Angel has Fallen still has good chances to become the biggest film of the series. First of all, it has not much to defend here: Olympus has Fallen got only 223 copies (which is a small to almost mediocre start) and had 145k total admissions/1.4M US$. London Has Fallen started in 292 theaters and had 392k total admissions/3.5M US$. Angel has Fallen gets 400 copies, G. Butler has become increasingly well known and popular here over the years and the advertisement seems to be decent too. E.g. I saw prime time TV-spots on RTL and P7 (the two biggest TV-stations for people aged 14-49) and London Has Fallen was broadcasted on RTL this weekend with good TV-rating so fans know that a third one is released. Sold tickets (in recent years it were reservations but also now you can cancel them till a certain time) in mathäser so far (it's mostly in the second biggest cinema hall with 445 seats, OuaTiH remains in the biggest) for Thursday: 21/77/2 = 100, and for Friday 13/44/9/8 = 74. Of course it could be that some tickets are canceled but maybe it has also in Europe very good walk ups. For rough comps, Stuber had 26/26 (both times all showtimes combined) on its release day (30k admissions OW including previews). And to put the audience in the right mood for It 2, at least a dozen Stephen King films are broadcastet in the coming days. Admittedly on small or medium-seized TV-stations in view of the „young“ viewers till 49 but nonetheless. As totals for the first run aren’t really available I added the open-air numbers for BR and Junge and the double Feature for IW as I think HP has double features in the total too but I don’t know to which extent. Interesting things: Out of 100! movies only 3 (H&S is below it too right now but first won't end up in the yearly Top 10 (It 2, Frozen and RTOS will make sure of that along with most likely one or two other movies and second will add enough to get past 1.5M) missed a 3x and that were Fast 5 with a 2.99x (0.824M opening and 2.461M total), Fast 8 with a 2.83x (1.145M opening and 3.241M total) and Hangover 2 with a 2.44x (1.273M opening and 3.104M total). Hangover had awful legs, damn. For the Years 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015 the movie with the most admissions sold had a better multi than the second highest. For the Years 2010, 2016, 2017, 2018 it was the other way around. For 2019 its unknown right now it would be second place with the better multi but when TLK tops Endgame it would be the other way around until most likely RTOS will top TLK and that most likely will have a worse multi than TLK. How often did a movie in the Yearly Top 10 miss a 4x: 2019: 5 2018: 3 2017:6 2016: 2 (3.83x and 3.99x) 2015: 4 2014: 3 2013: 3 2012: 3 2011: 5 2010: 3 So bad multipliers have always been around. Worst Multis (Bottom 11): Hangover 3: 2.44x Fast 8: 2.83x Fast 5: 2.99x Endgame: 3.07x Transformers 3: 3.08x Twillight 5: 3.10x Fast 7: 3.14x Infinty War: 3.22x (Thinking 3.16x without Double Features) Fifty Shades 1: 3.27x Pirates 3: 3.30x Deathly Hallow 1: 3.30x (slightly better than Pirates) 3 Fast and Furious films, would be a fourth with H&S if that wouldn’t have a too low total to appear in the yearly Top 10 and two Avengers movies. Top Multis (Top 10): Intouchables: 27.34x Monsieur Claude: 25.38x Green Book: 13.96x Bescheurte Herz: 13.45x Pets 2: 11.48x The King’s Speech: 11.34x Honig Im Kopf: 10.73x Bohemian Rhapsody: 9.22x Fack Ju Göhte: 8.5x Frozen: 8.33x Best year for respective place: #1: 2012 (9.160M) #2: 2012 (7.826M) #3: 2015 (7.089M) #4: 2015 (6.946M) #5: 2015 (4.420M) #6: 2015 (4.186M) #7: 2015 (4.148M) #8: 2015 (4.070M) #9: 2015 (3.505M) #10: 2013 (2.749M) 2015 had a lot of strong movies which is reflected in this list, the top 2 for 2015 are only 100k behind the 2012 ones in #1 and #2. #3 and #4 in 2012 are 390k and 250k behind the 2015 ones. Based on this one can guess the best years this year: #1: 2015 (139.2M) #2: 2012 135.1M #3: 2013 (129.7M) #4: 2011 (129.6M) How many movies about the respective milestone: 9M (3x Goldene Leinwand): 2019: 0 2018: 0 2017: 0 2016: 0 2015: 1 2014: 0 2013: 0 2012: 1 2011: 0 2010: 0 6M (2x Goldene Leinwand): 2019: 0 (0/1 TROS has a solid shot) 2018: 0 2017: 1 2016: 0 2015: 4 2014: 2 2013: 2 2012: 4 2011: 1 2010: 0 4M: 2019: 2 (4: Endgame, TLK, Frozen 2, TROS) 2018: 0 2017: 3 2016: 0 2015: 8 2014: 3 2013: 4 2012: 4 2011: 4 2010: 1 2012 had 4 movies above 6.68M but no movie between that and 4M. 3M (Goldene Leinwand): 2019: 2 (4 as above, maybe It 2 too, so 5 and maybe the Udo Lindberg movie) 2018: 5 2017: 7 2016: 6 2015: 9 2014: 4 2013: 8 2012: 8 2011: 6 2010: 4 8 TL;DR: Only 3 movies ever missed a 3x in Germany, around 60% get above a 4x in the yearly top 10. I read that Traumfabrik was referred to as "bad La La Land" by some here... Thanks. This is a traditional love song and dance film, and I don't believe it will be welcomed in the Chinese market. I suspect that the recent popularity of Romantic movies has created an illusion.

Germany... sometimes a weird taste in movies... 51 minutes ago, Brainbug said: We as a country just like to humiliate ourselves. True Regarding TS4: Total it would need for a multi (238.3k opening weekend * multi = needed total)*: 2.8: 667k 2.9: 691k 3.0: 715k 3.1: 739k It's heading here right now. 3.2: 763k 3.3: 786k 3.4: 810k 3.5: 834k 3.6: 858k 3.7: 882k 3.8: 906k 3.9: 929k 4.0: 953k * due to rounding everything above 655350 (2.750001049x) would be a 2.8x. With a 2.80 (so 2.795-2.804) it would need to be above 666k I know the comb is kinda shaky but among the 10 yearly Top 10s its multi would be seventh or eight worst multi! Some further thursday numbers and €/$ for Hollywood and TLK: Hollywood: 50k (€450k ≈ $500k) TLK: 26k (€230k ≈ $255k) Leberkäs: 23k (€200k ≈ $220k) Good Boys: 20k (€155k ≈ $170k) H&S: 14.5k (€130k ≈ $145k) Crawl: 4k (€35k ≈ $39k) Stuber: 3.6k (€30k ≈ $33k) Gloria: 2k (€13.5k ≈ $15k) I am Mother: 1k (8.6k ≈ $9.55k) This are the comps to last Thursday: So Hollywood dropped 50%, TLK dropped 65%, Leberkäs doesn't matter as it had a holiday last week in Bavaria and Bavaria already had really hot weather last Saturday and Sunday so the IM last weekend was like a 2.5 or so. As you see TS4 wasn't even reported so it isn't part of the top 5, so probably around 12-13k, which would be a drop of 76%. [...] Thursday actuals (blickpunkt:film): Hollywood: 30k (€290k ≈ $320k) TLK: 20k (€165k ≈ $182.5k) * Angel Has Fallen: 16k (€140k ≈ $155k) Good Boys: 12.5k (€100k ≈ $110k) Leber: 11.5k (€95k ≈ $105k) Playmobil: 6k (€40k ≈ $44k) Mein Lotta Leben: 4k (€25k ≈ $27.5k) Late Night: 2.5k (€21k ≈ $23k) * This ATP looks wrong, that would be quite a harsh drop. Honestly think 20k would mean like €175-180k
Aristis
1st Trend: OUATIH 185k (-10%) 1,175M TLK 125k (-4%) 4,835M Angel has Fallen 100k Good Boys 75k (-21%/-33%) 220k TS4 60k (-32%) 490k Leberkäs 55k (-35%) 995k H&S 50k (-42%) 1,5M Great drops for the Top2. With next WE hopefully being worse weatherwise and IT2 not being real competition (other than for screens) TLK may get close to 5M already. Awful for TS4 - I hope it can improve on that...
