Sonic had a good hold, too (in CGI-crazed Austria, it's selling even better). And Knives Out has finally crossed 1mil total. Next weekend: Two mid-sized releases with The Invisible Man and The Gentlemen, and Playing With Fire for the kids … hard to predict but I'd say Sonic has a good chance at staying on top. 7

George Parr
So, TROS actually did make it past €60m with this weekend, first movie to do so since TLJ. I guess No Time to Die should have a good chance to be the next movie to get past that mark, seeing how Skyfall and Spectre both made ~66-67m. Both topped 7m admissions as well. Funny how the "off-year" in terms of huge blockbusters for the USA / worldwide might actually deliver a larger movie in Germany than the "year of blockbusters" 2019. Not so sure, after all, the only American production to beat those two Bond-movies in terms of admissions over the last decade was The Force Awakens. Bond is simply much more in line with German tastes than what Hollywood mostly produces now. In terms of money made, only TFA, TLJ and the first Hobbit beat out Spectre and Skyfall over the last decade.

Last Wednesday Mark_G from insidekino.de projected a total of 1.35M admissions with an OW of 228k admissions. But Sonic had slightly less admissions this weekend so the updated projection tomorrow will probably be ca. 1.2 or 1.25M. Edit: If I think about it that would mean that he guesses that Sonic has pretty sharp drops in the future. Maybe because Onward and The kangaroo-chronicles (rather a comedy/satire) are released in a few days... By the way, his original prediction were only 500k total admissions so it exceeded the expectations by far anyway. While the situation is tense, our government seems to be very cautios with shutting down things. Of course things can change but atm I don't see cinemas being closed... I think the bigger problem might be people panicking and deciding not to go to cinemas, which at least as of now doesn't seem to be big of a problem. Side note: Half of the german cases are from one city.

Last week's openers are disapperaring fast down the chart with the exception of Lassie which is winning the battle of the dog movies with ease. Next weekend: Domestic comedy Die Känguru-Chroniken comes with a lot of buzz and should win the weekend, maybe 400k + previews? Hard to predict from Austria … also opening: Onward, which arrives with very little noise. There are only two Pixar releases ever which missed 1mil total in Germany but I guess this one will become the third; at least it should make it into the Top3 OW. With movie-friendly weather, we should see business in general picking up (the Corona virus doesn't seem to have much impact - yet). 7
