Boring weekend … Ant-Man 3 opened higher than Ant-Man 2 but won't become a big hit, either. Avatar 2 is now the highest-grossing film in Germany ever, fine. And Die Schule der magischen Tiere 2 continues to collect tickets, week after week … that drop is probably the most surprising number this weekend!

In Austria, Ant-Man opened higher (has already crossed 50k total on  Monday).

Next weekend: What's Love Got to Do with It? should become the biggest opener, maybe enough for #3?

Gestern hat DIE DREI ??? - ERBE DES DRACHEN als erster Film des Jahres die 1 Mio. Besucher-Marke geknackt!

??? became the 1st Film to cross 1M admits.

that's pretty good - 1mil total is about what all those bestseller adaptions for this age group are aiming for and ??? has still got a few 100k in its tank (1.3-1.4mil in the end), so definitely a success and a sequel (though not greenlit yet afaik but the director is looking forwards to it, according to an interview)!

early weekend estimates fron insidekino.de - with weather turning cool and no big opener, perfect for holdovers:

#1: Ant-Man 3 - 200k (-30%, ouch)

#2: Avatar2 - 140k (-8%)

#3: ??? - 125k (+8%, looks like 1,5mil total are possible)

#4/5: Moomios - 75k (+13%), MagicMike3 75k (-5%)

Ant-Man's drop has me concerned ... dropping 30% when other releases are having such excellent holds cannot be a good sign.

I'd say that's not too bad for AM3. It's already past the first one (630k vs 548k) and will pass the 2nd one easily, too (823k). The drop is worse but that had to be expected and is probably among the best holds worldwide.

Really a nice WE ahead. A2 only 300k away from 10M after the WE - if it'll hold that good 10M will be easily reached. Great achievement dropping less than 10% from the original release.

Yes!! Very good news if this drop goes real on sunday. I was starting to feel the magical 10 M number was in danger, but with this hold everything changes, at least for the moment.
Not the same in France with 14 M and Spain  with 7 M, but at least would be nice if Germany gets the number 10

??? - that's crazy so it has a solid chance at doing the same as the 2007 and 2009 version combined - and like tripple of what I expected.

Ant-Man isn't that awful - it's bad but if compared to other countries its doing quite well here.

Nice Avatar hold - close to 9.7m.

Could end up around 10.1(-10.3m).

€137.4m(-€140m)

9th Wend: 200k (Total 9160k) (+0k/-330k) (-26%) - I think Titanic is shown again this weekend

9th Wdays: 40k (Total 9200k) (+0k/-330k)

10th Wend: 150k (Total 9350k) (+0k/-330k)(-25%) (actuals: 150k / 9504k)

10th Wdays: 30k (Total 9380k) (+0k/-330k) (actuals: 50k / 9550k)

After that another 400k for 9780k (+100k/-230k) total ATP 13.5€ and ≈132m € ≈ $141m

ATP doesn't seem to really be dropping (ATP last weekend was €14,04 but over its whole run its a bit above €13.5).

I still think it has a very solid shot (at least 50%) for 10m, but it has become more likely again, that it will stop short by a little.

Especially if this weekend comes in around 400k that would be really helpful and next weekend around 300-320k it would make 10m chance a lot higher. (Thankfully both of these things happened: 393k and 313k)

Its performing a bit like a better Hobbit - great Christmas legs that don't really cary over (different to Avatar or Titanic).

It's ahead of this by about 170k.

Somewhat optimistic outlook:

11th Wend: 140k (Total 9690k)

11th Wdays: 20k (Total 9710k)

12th Wend: 110k (Total 9820k)

12th Wdays: 20k (Total 9840k)

13th Wend: 80k (Total 9920k)

13th Wdays: 10k (Total 9930k)

14th Wend: 60k (9990k)

14th Wdays: 10k (10000k)

15th Wend: 50k (10050k)

15th Wdays: 10k (10060k)

16th Wend: 30k (10090k)

16th Wdays: 05k (10095k)

17th Wend: 15k (10110k)
