BO Germany/Austria: Dune first 2024 blockbuster (3mil admissions)

Recommended Posts

It they wanted the international hit they would make an english language movie. I guess they also spent some money for marketing in three gerrman speaking markets. Probable a million or two. So It's really bad. As I know Wilden Kerle movies or Vorstadtkrokodile movies were really cheap. And they made much more than Rubinrot.

Our buyers from Cannes even said something about increased budget for sequel.

3rd and final weekend trend:

#1: HO3 - 1.375mil admissions ( )

#2: FF6 - 550k (good hold)

#3: Epic - 260k (wow, fantastic increase again - family films do explode on rainy weekends)

#4: GG - 175k

#5: H&N3 - 110k (family films again)

#6: STiD - 100k

Just wow at that HO3 opening ... the next sequel (you knew it was going to happen) will take place on the Oktoberfest in Munich I guess.

What a weekend ... HO3 smashed expectations left and right but the other movies didn't fare too bad either.

Germany numbers:

#1: HO3 - 1.450k admissions

#2: FF6 -  580k

#3: Epic - 230k

#4: GG - 180k

In Austria, even better start for HO3: 164k admissions for the weekend and nearly 280k total (In Germany, they include Thursday into the weekend, in Austria it's only Fri-Sun); #2 FF6 with 58k and 318k total (Golden Ticket!), #3 Epic with 25k and 106k total.

The last two weekends saw two fantastic openings, as well as great holds for nearly everything and even increases for the family fare. Theater-owners, rejoice!

The three films opening widest this weekend are After Earth, Snitch and Before Midnight; but none of them should dethrone the leading duo. With better wetter this weekend, most family films will see steep drops.

Ugh ...

This weekend: "Olympus Has Fallen" and "The Host", "The Purge" and "Place Beyond the Pines". With a little luck, each of these 4 openers will make it into my Top13-list, and at least one of them should make it to #2 (crosses fingers).
